Be honest guys how stressfull do you find this game? Personally I have given up the game 3 times (and returned) due to the sheer fustration of not being where I want to be with my game.Ive always had hope though that one day I will be at a place with my game where I want to be, there has been glimers but ive never achieved this yet so I just enjoyed the game and laughed at it at times.A month or so back I decided to nuckle down and improve my seemingly permanent 14 handicap.A couple of days ago I could feel myself returning to the stressfull no fun golf of the past in my quest to improve my game, It was getting back to the stage where I didnt want to hit balls or golf at all and just wanted to do something else.In the past ive had years (proberly 15) where I have done everything to improve my game with lessons, equipment changes and hitting tens of thousands of balls but it isnt going to happen, even though I love the game I'm not a natural,I seem to have peaked and stayed at 14.For me to continue enjoying the game I'm just going to be content again with my game where it is as the pressure to get better kills it for me.I knew a guy who played off 6 who couldnt improve and ended up giving the game up,he couldnt even bare to look at he's clubs.I'm just going to enjoy the standard I play to and sod it.A thought for the tour guys who rely on their game to feed their kids, now thats huge stress....

Absolutely zero on the stress levels for me.

Love playing. Love competing even more.

I'm not sure I'd have the same thoughts if I couldn't break 80. But that is just me, not a dig at anyone!!!

Can be massively stressful. It's not natural at all for me, so to be down to 8 is an achievement in itself. I want to be better, but my ball striking can be so inconsistent for my handicap. I guess it is very much a pride thing as I don't want to fail. There are times I would love to just throw the clubs in the corner and forget about it...but I just can't do that!

Really got to me last year , think i got too wound up in getting my handicap down last year and the enjoyment went away for a while .. got it back at the latter end of the year, the golf improved and i enjoyed it more ..

No stress at all - just enjoy playing the game - have the odd moment of annoyance but that's it.

To be honest I let it get to stressful and put to much pressure on myself ultimately resulting in me not touching a club, or having anything to do with the game in the media either last August. Having decided now to start again I will be doing what I did originally and playing this game for fun and sod the handicap if it comes down it does. If it doesnt the fine by me.

Also think I owe a tenner to H4H for the handicap challenge last year so best pop online and donate that now.

I got really stressed with golf about a year and a half ago.
I was a 12 handicap and just couldn't get to singles as I beat myself up during every round.
Went totally stress free and the handicap tumbled.
I never throw clubs, but I do get torrettes sometimes.

I throw the teddy out on the odd occasion on the course but nothing major. If I was getting stressed by it I'd call it a day & find another hobbie.

Agree!

Stress is probably the wrong word for me I get annoyed if/when I hit a silly shot (bad shots I can handle as long as they're not the result of a brain fart) but it's all quickly forgotten!

A bad day on the golf course and all that!

No stress for me when playing either friendly or comps. I do get stressed if I can't play coz I can't get a sitter for the girls like tomoz. As I only play once every 10/12 days when the sitter ie parents let me down or the course is closed then I'm stressed

Can get frustrated at times if I don't start a round well. But all in all love the game and just play and enjoy it. If the h/c drops then that's a bonus. :D

No stress at all. I believe I can improve but I don't fret over it and it's not like I'm busting a gut trying to do so by practicing for hours on end. It's frustrating at times, particularly when I make silly mistakes around the greens but I know that I don't practice enough to beat myself up over it.

Like some others I only get stressed when it is pouring with rain and golf is off for the day. As I still work and only play once a week I am envious of the cronies that I play with who are out two, three or four times a week. Only a few years until I join them!

Frustrating yes , stressful no. It's a game that should be enjoyed.

I have known a couple of guys that have given up as they could not get lower than 10, they got stressed!
