How many rounds do you play a year?

Being a golf addict I try and set a target of number of rounds per year and the number of new courses to try at the start of each year.

Anyone do better than 211 rounds and 18 new courses for 2009?

(1 hole in 1, 2 Eagles, 56 Birdies and 659 Pars)

The wife has put an upper limit of 100 for 2010 - so I will need to choose carefully!!!

Thats a lot of golf , crikey I thought I played a lot. Cant beat 211 rounds of golf though , I can however beat your tally of birdies/eagles and pars

14 new courses for me in 2009, at least 7 new ones planned for this year, and I suspect the annual usual suspects too....

No idea how many rounds - just enough to keep me coming back for more.....when it gets a bit warmer though!!

interestingly 92 was the average number of rounds played by GM readers in the last 12 months according to the data from the survey many of you contributed to in November in which had over 2200 responses.

However 27 percent of GM readers played between 100 and200 nearly 10 percent played more than 200

Good question and not something that I have really thought about. Back of the envelope calculation I would say around 70. But got a lot of practice 9 holers in too.

Bloody hell! 67 for me, and I was out of work for three months (albeit in winter!). I'm feeling a lot better now knowing I'm obviously not as obsessed as I thought I was.

Or am I not playing enough? I'll ask HID what she thinks...

Even in my hay day as a junior I would have thought 200 would have been my upper limit with around 10 new courses a year. I think 200 plus is loads (It is like playing 50, 4 round tournaments a year!!!)
Unfortunately I only played 12 times last year (8 new courses in there)and had a H'cap rise of 4 (general "poor" play)
I will however be quoting some of Mike's stats to my wife to see if I can get the 12 to say 20 would be more than reasonable!

I would say between 80-100 last year, but since starting shifts and mainly midweek days off it no doubt will drop or it could increase.

That must be some kind of record, 211 rounds a year. thats 4 p/w. I thought I played plenty..........I've never counted, but I wouldn't be anywhere near 200.........Maybe I'll try harder this year.............

Are those 211 full 18 rounds or are you counting a quick 9 holes?

I must play about 200 rounds. I also played about 15 new courses last year too. I am intending to play a bit less this year, as sometimes I feel a bit 'over golfed'. As a result, I am not missing it much at the moment really. I would just like the opportunity to practice a bit, without actually playing.

I'm looking at my diary for this year and I reckon at around 150 rounds for the year and only 5 or so new courses. Even at that number I'm looking at a few of the weeks and thinking I'll need to put the clubs away after that to stop getting the "golfed out" feeling.

Once a week on Saurdays,and the odd midweek round.Must be about 70/80. I have to play weekly to justify my membership fees.Well thats what i tell the wife.The more i play the cheaper my rounds become !
