How long is yours? ... Rough that is;)

The semi is back to about 4 inches but full of clover. It makes finding it a lot easier but the ball nestles down and so is definitely a half shot penalty. The heavy stuff is really thick and the ball just drops to the bottom and only findable if you stand on it. This is a fair distance off line and so it punishes the bad shot as it should be. To be honest I think the club have got it about right.

Playing the other week I put a drive in the left rough down the 17th.

Normally find it no problem and playable.

When I got down there it was chest height (I'm 6ft) and stupidly thick.

Didn't even bother and played my provisional.

As has been said its perfect weather for growing. The semi rough isso dense you can be a couple of feet off the fairway and chipping out, quite an odd sight :).

I haven't picked the best time to be wayward off the tee!!

They've cut our whole course over the last 4 days.

So much for a guaranteed win tomorrow in the matchplay. :(

In my frustration last week having bogeyed the first I chucked my ball onto the 2nd tee. It rolled off - just - but INTO THE ROUGH. If I hadn't watched it eagle-eyed I would have really struggled to find it - buried deep in the 18" wispy stuff but invisible under the 6" absolutely dense clover and stuff. I found it - and found another about a foot away from it. Clearly someone else had bogeyed the first before me but didn't keep their eye on their ball - lost.

Ours is about 4 inches just off the fairway and very thick. It's not just that but the old grass isn't going away and clumps up so the ball kicks under it so you really don't stand much chance of finding it. The deep stuff is now bordering on the rediculous. It's now about 4 foot long and laying at about 30 degrees so even if you go into it with the lay of the grass it rolls back into the grass and hides. More chance of finding someone elses than your own.

2-5ft and so thick you can't see the ground. It isn't worth the time or effort looking for a ball at the moment.

On the other hand my lawn looks fantastic so it's all swings and roundabouts. :)

Ours is horrid much like everyone else's club but this morning the email came round, the farmer is starting to cut it TODAY!! And it's Captain's Day tomorrow, oh happy day!
