I’ve just manually entered my round yesterday to compare MFP to Garmin, using a Elec trolley, MFP gave me 1226, Garmin gave me 736.
Big difference, so not sure how MFP works it out as both have my same stats.

Garmin I believe just tracks the distance and it's the Cal for the walk

Mfp takes into account the swinging of the club and if you carried

If people are playing golf for physical fitness then it’s the wrong sport. But then again I don’t suspect that anyone is.
For me, if you weigh in the competitive, physical, mental, social, side of what golf has to offer then for me it’s a no brainier.
Golf is healthy.

Depends on which Garmin, mine is the Fenix 5X and I use it to track my health, so the output is a bit more personally based.

LOL really??! I did 60km on my bike yesterday at an average of 30kmh with 500M of elevation, and Garmin reckons i burnt 1100 calories....

I think either Garmin or MFP is well off!!

On a bike you are probably going in a straight line not zig zagging:LOL:

How many extra calories are burnt up standing still over the 3 foot putt on the green for par, just thinking about whether or not you are going to find that brand new Prov1 you just fired off in to the woods. Reaching in to the bag for the mid round pie/ drinks bottle, realising that if can keep the ball down the middle on the 18th you may win the comp.

Walking 5-6 miles burns on average 700 calories. Golf is healthy, relatively low impact. But honestly the eating/lifestyle habits of most are what undo the benefits. The problem with calorie tracking (My fitness pal) for burn is too simplistic, it doesn't take into account your weight, BMR, RMR or VO2 max. For example if you played golf every day you'd burn calories but you might still look like a mound of vaseline with a heart condition if you had to do 10 minutes of burpees or 25 pull ups. Being healthy and fit is more than just burning calories.

Do you track everything? The amount of milk in coffee or spoonful of sugar? Those calories can add up rapidly.
