Our caterers tend to serve traditional clubhouse fare, but do turn their hand to more elaborate dishes for certain events and do so with skill and it always tastes good. Would be good to seem them put something like this on once a month for members and guests

Excellent. Visiting societies often comment upon the quality and quantity of food provided, Members regularly use the clubhouse facilities for private evening events knowing the food will be 1st Class.

We have a cook not a chef. A chef would be wasted at our place, as they have been at every other club I've been a member at up here (seen many turn up with grand ideas only to see disolusionment set in as people are just not interested). Maybe it is their location or the culture but going to eat at your club in the evening is not normal here, possible exception of Sunday lunches. They just need to make hearty golf food at cheap prices, not restaurant food.

Yeah the club round the corner seem to do things like this fairly regularly. Billed under Chefs ‘Experience’ nights or just a la carte or themed nights for regions or countries. Went to one of them where we were told a chef had ‘flown in from Paris’ Plenty different dishes etc I’ve never tried before, some were great others not so much

They had a 3-night chefs ‘workshop’ on last week (whatever that is) and the chefs do seem more at home doing this stuff than they are doing a simple buffet spread of curry/burgers etc for a society/group (but I wish they’d pay the same attention to the day to day food)

We also have cooks not a qualified chef. Menu is fairly limited but covers most of the usual grub people fancy before or after a knock basically good home cooked food sort of style.

Our chefs special is cheesy chips and barby sauce. Never left the course without an empty bowl. 👍

Cook not a chef, our food should be much better than it is for what we pay and how we see ourselves in the area, visitors seem to like it, but then are they just being polite?

Most of us would pay more for quality, our whole front of house needs addressing as does our decor, the difference in our lounge to that of our bar is chalk & cheese, but we’re reluctant to spend on what we as members see as important, especially those of us that use all the in-house facilities more.

That menu couldn’t be achieved by our cooks, they'd have a go but would fail imo, when we have nights like that we get a Michelin star chef in as a headliner but then the cost goes up 4 times to that of the menu in the op.

Really good, they cater for Weddings weekly.
Always tend to eat at the club after a Saturday round now and have never had a bad meal. One of the reasons I changed clubs this year, its was so embarrassing bringing guests to my old club, the catering was utterly shocking.
