How good are your greens.

Just interested to know……..up and down the country, how good are your greens. When did your greens last get cored and top dressed. Are you getting a good roll on the ball.

Very Good - better than they have been for a few years. Perhaps our new GreenKeeper that seems to know what the hell he's doing.

Hollow tined some time ago, and top dressed, well fed too, and rolling well.

Just need some rain now to stop the course being browned off before too long, its unbelievable.

Uneven and not too good. Greenkeeper added fertilizer at wrong time and with no rain they will need to improve.

The problem is that the County Premier 36 hole is at our Club this weekend and I do not think the 'stars' will be too happy!

Ours are pretty good this spring. They were micro-tined a while back and ressed accordingly. The warm, dry weather has helped the firm up and speed up so they are fairly fast and true so far.

Not great to be honest. One part of my course that lets it down a bit.

New course so, to a degree still bedding in and there are some signs of improvement due to a new greenkeeper so hopefully will improve.

Not sure he can do anything about the fuds that don't repair pitchmarks though!!

ours we cored or whatever it is a few weeks back and dressed, they are now the best ive i have seen them in the 15 years that i been playing the course. Stopping well from height with a nice consistent roll.

My only gripe is our putting green has nothing in common with our other greens. When our greens are fast its slow, when our greens are long the putting green is short or visa versa.

Ours were cored and top dressed about a month ago. They are now pretty good, and if we get a touch of rain, will be excellent. This was the first weekend where there was a bit of roll, and they are starting to speed up a bit. Promising for the season. Putts were running pretty true. They are quite firm too, so easy to run through the back on approaches.

Got the first major next saturday. Spring meeting, 36 hole stroke play. The greens will be superb for that.

We still have a couple of temp greens on each course that are on the approach but should be back to full greens shortly.

Can't complain as after almost 13 weeks under snow and ice they suffered badly but thankfully they are recovering well and have a good roll despite being cored and dressed recently.

Ours are rubbish at the moment. The snow has killed large patches and even though the greenkeepers have said that it'll quickly recover with good weather they haven't. We're on a temp green at the first because the green has been rebuilt and is taking an age to recover. I'm very disappointed with them.

Cored and Dressed about 3 weeks ago. Playing very well, good roll and speed is picking up (unfortunately)

Hollow tined (and dressed?) about a month back. They are in fantastic condition over the last couple of weeks. Other people commenting that they are in the best condition they have seen....

ours are ok but too dry, they were cored about 6 weeks back but desperate need to get some more water on the whole course

our greens are in superb nick and are probably 6weeks ahead of were we should be. We have had a green specialist guy at our club in the last few weeks and he reckons we have the best greens in merseyside.

The deputy head greenkeeper is also a scratch golfer and he prepares the greens and nobody else is allowed to touch them.

For me our greens are a disgrace for the time of year and the conditions we've had. Last year you could understand it because they were still under snow in March.

They cored them around the end of March then they did them again around the middle of April with the first lots holes still there. We've had no rain to speak of for about 6/7 weeks. They still have loads of bare patches from the winters fusarium disease (happens every year).

There are thicker areas with good strong growth then thinner lighter growth followed by bare patches. This all makes judging any sort of putt a lottery with balls jumping in the air. No consistency of pace between greens either.

I have made a decision to play no more comps until the club champs at the end of July

Corred, sanded two weeks ago, and are fine now. They are getting firm though, and pitch marks are very shallow. We need some rain, as the whole course is very dry, and i hear there are forest fires not far away.

You know the reason I'm asking Dodger. Royal musselburghs greens are the worse I've seen, although I've only been there for 4 years. In the next few days we're into our fourth and fifth comp and the greens are just not worth bothering about. The ball bounces all over the shop and if it goes in it's more luck than skill.....good for the craw Oh, 72 NRs, yes your reading it right 72, from the medal on saturday. Thats more than a third of the entry.

Had a look at Haddingtons greens on the way back from dunbar and they're in super nick.

probably slow in comparison with many. even now there is still a spongy feel but then lack of rain isn't an issue with all the lakes to draw from. roll is pretty even though.

Ours are just like this. Scoring's not impossible - some 40 pointers in the last comp but you have to have the luck run all your way.
