went and had one of my sneaky round at Moray new with the dogs. there is a car park with a practice green between the 14th and 15th on the new so jumped on there.

Was behind a man and woman who took 40 mins to play 15,16, 17 and 18, i played the rest after that in the same time.

I like getting around the course in a brisk fashion and in a 2 ball at the West Sussex, often get around in a fraction under 2 hours.

How much under three hours ?

A one ball really shouldn't be any longer that 2 and half hours playing normally and not practising etc

No idea. When I'm on the course I rarely look at my watch or time myself. I don't understand what this fascination about a singleton having to play under three hours. If I'm on my own then chances are if the course is quiet I'm hitting a couple of balls and chipping and putting on most holes. Amazing how much you can learn about the putting surfaces and slopes on your home course whn you have the time to work out where the ball runs from all over the green!

Fast enough not to upset the people behind.

Once went out first, a 2 ball, in the final round of the club championship. Just over 2hrs, and both shooting in the low 70's.

I never play on my own so I have no idea.

Golf, for me is about the friendliness and banter and if I don't have anyone to play with I'd rather go to the range.

you're missing out , as going to the range is very 1 dimensional, I learn and can practice far more in an early solo 18.

Good answer, I once held two course records both rounds completed in about 2.5 hours.
I tend to play much better when I am playing at a pace that I enjoy which is around the 2.5 hour per round mark.

How fast can I play a round of golf??

That, for me, is similar to 'How quickly can I drink this excellent bottle of wine??'

I prefer to 'smell the roses' as someone once remarked. (I accept smelling roses is difficult on a links course, maybe that should, in my case, be the sea air!)
