.............to buying the drinks.....
I played this morning in a 3 ball scramble(stroke play) and after knocking down my tee shot of the first(its been a while since that happened) i thought to myself its gonna be one of them days....

Anyhooooo....We parred the 1st and cue our 2nd......It was playing about 25 mtrs shorter than usual.Normally 158 mtrs.....A slight following breeze....
Now as i already played this earlier in the week the flags were roughly still in the same positions....
I hit 9 iron on friday and was 12 mtrs past the hole....So this morning i played a PW....from the moment it left the tee it covered the flag....I knew it was good so i bent to pick up the tee just as the ball hit the putting surface....

My playing partners then started screaming "its on the way back Mick, its on the way back"

After it stopped we nknew it was pretty close but weren't fully sure just how close.....As we got to the green the ball had stopped just 6 inch's to the left of the hole after reversing back nearly 15ft....." I knew those ProV's were good for something "

Anyway a tap in Birdie and a hand shake from the lads waiting to tee off from the 3rd for the entertainment i had given them....They had watched it the whole way to the hole....I was just 6in away from my 1st ever Ace....So near but yet so far
After that it perked me up a bit and i contributed 4 more Birdie putts for my team for the round.....We finished 6 under off a combined handicap of 3.9 for a total of 61.1...9.9 under par....There was only 1 other low score in with us at the time we finished and that was a 61.....Might be in the Prize's but wont be sure until during the week....All in all happy out though :D :D :D :D :D

Unsurprisingly not very. I think about 4-6" was my best. I did hit the flag once but it was after the first bounce on firm summer greens and so still motoring. If I remember rightly it hit the stick and ended up on the edge of the green where I duly 3 putted.

Sounds great! Remind me to get some swing tips off the same guy as you

Had a hole in one but didn't even buy a drink for my playing partner... we didn't know back them what the protocal was and besides he's my brother so he can feck right off if he thinks he's getting a drink from me! :p

A 179 yard PW with a slight following breeze, think you should have got the drinks in anyway! :p

The closest I have come was to break the plastic surround inside the hole. Landed full toss on the rim. Didn't even make a birdie either. :(

I've had one lip out... Off our winter tea (if that counts?) but normal green. Pitched short released and just lipped round finishing 2" behind the pin.

Though this summer saw 2 in 2 weeks, first on the second as we finished the 17th and then the week after playing summer knock out final my opposition knocked it in on the same hole

Your maths are wrong...Wherediditgo.....
Normally 158 - 25 = 133mtrs...( 145yrds ) ;)

I had nice bounce off the back of the left hand bunker at our 15th in July This year, 5 iron into a strong wind and at least it was a resonable strike :D
dont ask about the rest of the round
Cost me £45 quid, I was glad there are a few car park players in out Saturday comps that day. ;)

A 179 yard PW with a slight following breeze
158m - 25m = 133m x 1.1 = 146yds wind behind = wedge.

Nope!

158 x 1.1 = 178.8 yards.....now adjust club selection for a slight following wind

Edit: sorry guys, maths were correct, but typing was wrong:

(158 x 1.1 = 173.8)+(15 / 3) = 178.8 yards
Unless.....the hole length was 25m shorter than normal?

Maybe I misunderstood your use of the term "playing short"?

If you meant the hole was actually physically shorter (temp greens / tee boxes)? then I did indeed misunderstand.

We (the guys I play with) would say the hole, or course, was playing short, or long, owing to external influences, say high winds or heavy ground conditions. If the hole was actually shorter than normal we would say the hole is 133m today. :D
