Well, after being on holiday for a week with no golf, I was really looking forward to the club champs yesterday.
I had driven home late Friday night to be back in time, my wife drove back Saturday morning.

I hadn't played for the best part of 2 weeks, but had a bucket of balls on the range before I played and thought I was hitting it well.

Wrong.

After playing well recently I was hopeful, but ended up with an 86. That flatters me to be honest because I din't really play well enough to be in the 80's. 6 fairways and 4 GIR. You might think from that, that my short game was good. It wasn't. I have no idea how I scored what I did. I can count on my fingers the good shots I hit.
The positive to take out of it is that if I can score 86 playing awful I know the good scores will come when I hit the ball better.

The top 30 gross + top 30 nett scores go through to play again today. Obviously a lot of those will be the same people, so about 40 through in total.

To top it off I finished the round with a migraine and spent the rest of the day in bed.

I was seriously considering not signing my card so I didn't play today if I was in either of the top 30's, but in the end I did.

Off today at 7:50, hoping for some better stuff.

I hope everyone else had a better day? :)

Only because 2 people dropped out!! :D

I was 38th nett and 32nd gross, so was in the gross comp but not the nett.

Still, only 13 shots off the pace with 18 to play :D

Played much better today, or at least I thought I hit the ball much better.

The score? 86 again. :D

Nope. Played like a saint and got the luck of a sinner.
The best news of the day was that my cut down Wilson Spine driver (was 46" now 44.75") behaved quite magnificently.
A little shorter, but hey, distance isn't everything.

Had a morning at the practice ground at Sand Martins. Found something in my swing that got me hitting it better especially with the driver which has caused me a load of angst recently. When I get it into play I'm scoring but more often than not I'm missing fairways and playing catch up with mid and short irons. Not the way to compile a score.

After a couple of buckets I spent an hour on the short game and I'm very pleased with that. Range tomorrow night (late out of work) and then playing every day until the club championship on Saturday (1st round). I'm figuring playing will keep my game sharper and I won't be as worrieda about my swing (well you know I do like to tinker!) Even if I hit it poorly at least I'll know what my bad shot is and can at least work on a strategy to get it round on Saturday.
