Homeward Bound

Be prepared to negotiate and/or double check alternatives for a lot of things you previously may not have such as utilities, insurance, mobile costs, streaming and internet providers etc. and never just accept renewals (although this would be obviously be for next year).

Must be a big pull for you to return home. God May of been born in Scotland but he goes to Mauritius for his holidays. one of the highlights of my golfing journey was the round I played with you in Mauritius. Oddly enough that day I met a lovely couple from Glasgow and we have kept in touch. Meeting up again later this year at Perth races.
Be shocked at the price of houses both rental and buying. Be shocked how the political scene has changed. Don’t forget to put your big coat in your hand luggage for when you get off the plane.
Safe journey home Alan me man.

We've always known this wasn't/couldn't be a forever home here so returning was always on the horizon
We know we have a heap of hassle to go through too but better to do it now than waiting till a few more of the remaining marbles have left the noggin :p

Since we’ve no furniture/appliances to take home we’ll need to furnish our rental place prior to moving in. We’ll get our first few days in local hotel but can’t stay there longer
Our thought was to buy the essentials from one place and attempt to get them ‘all’ delivered same day (being the first day or two after we land) so we’ll need to order before flying and delivery reliability/ in stock situation is key

These ‘Essentials’ would be bed/mattress, bedding, washing machine, TV, tv cabinet, sofa, chairs, pots/pans and various sundry kitchen items

I’m thinking argos as a one-stop shop that sells all the above & that’s reasonably priced, any other retailers I should look at?

Would you not be better renting a fully furnished place, or is that not an option?

Yeah it would be but not the same choice or availability for furnished places
The wee place we've found is ideal location so that trumps furniture (& we'll need furniture anyway for the forever place when we find it in a year or two)

As @Tashyboy said, Dunelm is excellent. Habitat at Argos is very good also.

Both of the above will cover most bases and are more than decent. Keeps it simple.

Simple is def the plan, although the in-stock situation seems the challenge for both argos and Dunelm. Its easy (& looks great) to display 20gazillion products online but if 19 gazillion are out of stock...

If you want to go big, go John Lewis 😳.

The reality is, you might need to split your wish list into 2. It's asking an awful lot to get one company to supply everything. Accept that, it might make things easier.

Incidentally, you won't be waiting in an empty house. A delivery arrives, it will be boxed and left with you. You will have to get it out yourself, unpack, perhaps assemble and then have to dispose of the packaging. Don't underestimate the amount of unpacking, the bulk of it all, and assembling you will need to do.
