Homemade Putter Specs

I have a putter that my friend made me from an African blackwood. I have used it for a couple of years and i love it. It has a brass face that was 'glued' in place. That face has shown signs of coming away slightly. I can get him to re-glue it but I wanted to know if there are any regulations against putting a brass screw through it instead and buffing it smooth. I like the idea of it looking homemade and I think this would add to it.
Any advice on the conformity to rules with this idea?

As long as it conforms to the dimensional limits in the rules you should be fine.
