"Holiday Bonds"

You know them companies who you pay a bond to, say £5,000.00 and you then have a "bond" or share. With all the other monies they have built up a portfolio of properties all over the world which you can then access, using a points system, and even then you still have to pay certain charges.

Probably can't afford one now, but may consider in the future. It's just that we have spent about £2,000.00 per year on 2-3 cottage holidays in the UK over the last year, so could put to one of these instead. I think you will only benefit after 5 years or more, depending upon how much you use it, but would definitely benefit over 20 years. I believe you can also cash in the bond after so long, but may not get all your money back.

Anyone in one, can recommend one or have a bad experience of one.

They are legit and not quite timeshare (which I would definitely stay well away from) but unless you are committing to spend for the next so many years , you could lose most of it should you decide to get a refund/return. I wouldnt bother to be honest as deals can pop up at short notice and work out as better value.

Brendy - I know you dont necessarily get your bond back, if you decide to cash it back in, but would keep it for years anyway.

Harvey- no it's not a timeshar, in the conventional sense. These comapnies might have 80+ properties all over the world ie ski chalet in st moritz, lodge at gleneagles, villa in marbella etc As I say, sounds good and they are legit, but don't know if they are all what they are cracked up to be. They used to always be advertised in sunday magazines a few years ago, not so much recently. Don't fancy a timeshare as you always go the same place, whereas these have lots of different options.

Travel could be the kick in the stones that makes it not very worthwhile unless you are able to book the location well in advance to get cheaper travel.

Depends on what you pay for, we always have to go away in the scholl hols, there is also normally 4-6 of us and one of them is over the new year which has an extra premium anyway.

Ive looked at Hoseasons in the past but normally go on cottages4you.
