Lovely afternoon out yesterday with a friend. Played the front nine three over with a couple of birdies in great golfing weather and all is well with the world. Rock up to the tenth, a 175yd par three with out of bounds all the way down the left. Wildly slice my tee shot about 300 yards out of bounds :( Furious with myself for blatant lack of concentration and as normally happens expecting me to fall apart. My partner hits a decent effort just short of the green. As I play my three off the tee I make the comment "this will have to be a good un". Well it was! Arrow straight pitching just before the hole and rolling in, didnt know whether to laugh or cry! :D

I'd cry.

Congrats on making a, erm... par! ;)

This... I am kinda gutted for you. Do you keep the ball, do you celebrate?

Do I congratulate you? Saved you some money in the bar I guess.

Nice shot!!

Just pretend you are American and take a Mulligan for your first shot. I hopes you get a proper one soon, to stop you going mad if nothing else ;)

Yeah...you're not getting a hole in one for this!!

But you can still buy me a drink for your ace

A fellow competitor did pretty much the same - but ball was a provisional.

I didn't hurry to look for his first! :D

Well done mate...

I have always said if I ever do it... It will be on a second ball.

I have came to within one dimple roll & 1 inch before but really... that means nothing but a very easy birdie!

One day hopefully!
