Hole in one etiquette?

Just pondering- Say i whack in my first ever hole in one in a Saturday medal. The clubhouse is packed, my playing partners declare it to the world, and i am skint (as usual)-

Do i have to buy everyone a drink? What's the done thing these days?

yes but ur club should usually do Hole in One insurance.

We pay a £1 and that gets a bottle in a bounce game and 3 litres I think in a Comp.

If you're worried about it get yourself some golf insurance. It'll pay the bar bill if you hole in one (in a competition).

At our club the tradition is you buy a big bottle of scotch and players then help themselves until it's empty.

Does the job and you know it's not going to cost you a small fortune.

Etiquette dictates that if you are skint you should ensure you don't get a whole in one in the first place - make sure to slice or shank all your tee shots on the par 3s!

You are covered by the gui so I think if it is a club comp they stump up either 120 or 150

Hand your card in, say your going to put your clubs in the car, then drive away like you stole the car

I've got £150 worth of insurance, so I'd put £150 on my card, let people drink until it was gone and then claim it back from my insurance.

I do know of one guy who had £250 worth of insurance and did the same thing........it was in a knock up and he didn't realise he was only covered in official competitions

not so sure that most insurances aren't competition only and a secretary's letter to confirm. £150 limit on mine, which isn't going to cut it in an average medal with over 50 entrants.

If you get insurance it usually only covers club comps. Get your credit card out and pay the bill
