They are made by Callaway (Topflight too), and are similar to the Cally balls. I used to use Hogan Apex Tour, which were alot like ProVs. Nice balls, but not cheap.
I am not familiar with their current range. They normally do a premium ball, and a two piece ball.
Which model are you looking at?
Nice to use an unusual ball, as you have less chance of playing the wrong one.
Have to say I've not really seen these on general sale. Not even sure if my AG has them. Can't really comment as I have no idea how they perform. Never tried them
I reckon the Cally/T-F corporation keep the Hogan brand on as a niche market.
Personaly, I don't like the look of the gear and wouldn't be tempted to spend this amount on the balls. I guess this is why you ask. I can only presume that IF they were actually a hidden gem, we'd know about it!!!
I have a Hogan apex sand iron (courtesy of GM for the first ever blog) and it is a great club. There irons are actually quite sexy and in the main for a better ball striker than me but I'm not sure whether there balls are that great. Like Dave said I think it is to keep the name out there and aimed as a niche ball
I've used some Hogan Tours in the past and they were ok - not quite as spinny as a prov but there or thereabouts. But they are expensive so I can't really see the point in them unless you get them cheap from JJb in their lake ball/reclaimed section.
Apart from a couple that i found have not realy used them.
If they are anything like the clubs then they will be top notch. I have Apex Plus irons and think they are excellent. The soft buttery feel you get from a well struck shot is great. Although they are stronger lofts than some other clubs i feel i can swing much easier and still get good distance but with added accuracy.
Can't wait for next year when i join a club and start to play more often to see how much they improve my game over the cavities i used to play.
