Hitting the ball well but not scoring !!

This is really doing my nut in of late..

about 6 weeks ago i hit 48 points off 19 HC. This included me scoring 1 over par on the back nine.. (dropped shot on the 18th )

But anyways from that date i got cut to 16.4 or something.. But from that date i seem to be hitting the ball very well but just not scoring at the holes.. Every green its 2 putt after 2 putt. No matter how close or far i am from the hole.

I am hitting the driver and irons better than i ever did, its just now I seem to be so unlucky when hitting into the greens, under clubing it or over clubing it, time after time.. And now i just cant seem to hit over the 35 point mark.

I was really hoping to be coming way down this year with having a really nice ball strike but its not happening grrr..

I was starting to think about getting myself a new putter just to give me that bit more confidence but again i am happy with my putting stroke its just not a thing will drop.. lol

anyone got any advise??

I am trying to stay patience with it telling myself to enjoy it and it will come (I am still enjoying it all the same but with a good season start and even the club pro giving me some promising words i did not think i would be in this position coming into july lol HELP lol)

Patience really is the key,a lot of players after a cut feel they have to do something different than they were before but basically it comes down to the short game and putts dropping.As your striking the ball well and getting yourself in good positions dont change just stay patient and the putts will drop.

Enjoy the good shot making whilst you can!

I found once that when i was hitting it well i started to club down and try shape shots.. basically taking the situation for granted this had an adverse affect on my scoring! Im not saying you are doing this however if you take one shot at a time - one fairway then one apporach, especially since ur hitting it well then scores will come!!

Could be worse you could have no control over the ball and be striking poorly which would annoy you even more!

My advise is if ur hitting it sweet then one good shot at a time will usually result in a steady round!

Keep the basics i.e. usual clubs for your distances and dont worry abbout the score on the card your hitting well the score WILL follow!

If you are happy with your putter and stroke and they are not going in you must be reading them wrong, putt some work in on the practice green, I dont agree with the just wait it will come advice you can always make it work

Work on the short game. If you are hitting it well but missing greens it sounds like you aren't getting up and down or you aren't hitting approaches close enough to convert into birdies. I'm trying between doses of the shanks to focus as much practice time as I can to shots from 120 yards and in and getting a good putting stroke especially on 3-6 footers.

I agree with homar,putting as got to be one of the least practice shots that guys like us are used to,but the putting is what realley makes the round,too many puts like I had on saturday ruined a good round

think i will maybe work on the putting if not for the practice even but to try and build some confidence back into it.

Thats why i was thinking of changing the putter tho maybe i am just saying that after see the results of a few mates having had a putter change with a hugh improvment. One of them even changed a 2 ball for a JJB sports £11.25 special and now he just does not miss lol.

Hendy, i was in a simular position stuck at 18 h/c, spent around 3 weeks down the range with 8/9/pw Gap wedge & lop wedge working of different shots to improve consistancy.

I also find now that on approach shots instead of forcing one club, im going one more and hitting 3/4 and approach consistnacy is up by atleast 50%,

I found often at say 120 i would try and hammer a wedge in, this would leave random results, now ive worked on 3/4 9i and find its in the heart of the green more, so on with 8/7, 9/8's etc. Ive also found around 500 balls with my 52* vokey has prooved a card saver.

At this point in time i dont have one club in the bag that i finished last year off with its all new. I can honestly say the only 3 clubs that i feel i have had value for money from is driver, 52* vokey & rossa putter. the rest if for show!

Was thinking about the range tho the balls there dont give the same distance as normal golf balls so sort of binned that idea..

But i do like the idea of trying possibly working with a 3/4 swing on the 9 more so than hitting a PW full crack for the 115/120 yard shot..
