I joined because i wanted to,its no business of yours why i joined, so your criteria for joining a club is how high up in a list that at best is just an opinion based one,i based my choice on a different criteria.

Apologies I wasn't meaning it to sound that you had to justify your reasons for joining the club - as you say people join clubs for many different reasons and it would be always their own opinion

I took a two foot divot on the 18th with an old 24 degree Adams tight lies wood. I tired to de loft it slightly to get a little more distance. The sharp leading edge dug right into the ground and the ball went about 15 yards.

Possibly my worst shot ever. I hit better shanks than that.

Being a private club does not mean you can break the law in any way, including discrimination. It's a golf club, not diplomatic immunity.

Is it discrimination for an organisation to take notice of a fairly well documented incident in an applicants recent past?
I do not think so, due diligence by Hillside.

My post was in response to the suggestion that private members clubs should be able to discriminate on the basis of religion race or sex. As that is most importantly illegal and also in my opinion morally bankrupt. Nothing to do with the alleged decision to refuse Gerrard.

If they have not broke the law then they are free to do what they want. But I am always reminded of the quote that I'd never want to be a member of a club that does not want me.

Ok, fair point, I am not 100% au fait with the exactly legislation but there is a provision for that to occur in certain circumstances. But in general it is not legal or acceptable to discriminate on the basis of sex.

I would have needed heavy machinery to lift the divot. Fairway bunker / new pond would be much less work.
