Kate,
It depends on what type of clothes he wears on the course, say he is smart dressed you wouldnt want a trainer style or vice versa.

Classic?
Sports?
in the middle ones?

For £51.99 you can get a 2007 top of the range pair of Stuburt Helium Pro's from pricebuster golf which were top of the range in 2007 as worn by GM favourite David Howell. They have been superceded by the Helium Pro 2 for 2008 but it'll be just the same shoe. If you go for brands like Footjoys you'll only get their cheaper range for £70, their best ones are £130 odd.
If you opt for the Stuburts you will have the best part of £20 left over from your £70 and hubby will never realise - good times!

If its a shoe your after, go to sports soccer and you can get a pair of callaway black and white with soft spikes for 30 quid, then you can take ya self of to american golf for a jumper or t/shirt with the change. Personally though, American golf gift vouchers maybe the solution, then he can pick his own. Thats what my mrs did for me new putter!

The footjoy AQL is a good shoe in the right price bracket or the LTs are also superb at that sort of price.

All very nice advice, and all nice shoes. But the trouble with shoes is that we all have very different feet, and different makes and different styles suit different feet.

If it were me, I'd like the mrs to just throw me in the car and drive to your fav golf shop and say that you'd like to buy him some golf shoes. Problem solved.

Good luck.

The Addidas shoes are good but I found the fittings a little narrow when I tried them. Hi-Tec are OK but you really cannot go wrong with Footjoys.

Kate shoes are an a difficult purchase-a size 8 in one make may fit one person but not another due to differing foot widths etc.

Suggest you bring hubby along to ensure me gets the shoes he wants or use his curent shoes as a template-if he wears a certain make go for their shoe.

For me, footjoys every time. I tried the adidas and didnt really rate them, then again i am not your husband so like i said, Vouchers would be ideal.

I think footjoys are the prom king and queen of golf shoes.

I don't see why you would be opposed to a pair of Hi-Tech shoes, from the single pair I had they are no worse than any others. Their styling is somewhat questionable, but for fit and comfort they are very good. Just don't believe the posters that tell you the ones that Harrington wears make you drive the ball further!

If your unsure though, footjoy is the way to go, everyone likes a pair of footjoys where as they may not like some of the other brands.

You won't see those posters any more Hitec got done by the advertising standards people for them!

17 yards further thanks to my magic shoes!

Harrington should be ashamed to put his name to such nonsense

Ive got a pair of Hi-Tec fell walking style shoes.

Never again!

The only shoe ive ever had more trouble breaking in was a pair of 12 hole DM's in the early 80's.

These buggers have left more scars on my heals and blood blisters on my toes than I can count. Everytime I wear them I have to spray liquid elastoplast over the old battle scars and wad the new ones with cotton wool and strapping.

If I get back to the locker room without a new wound i'm astonished.

They should have gone the whole hog and just fitted them with retractable razorblades.

Bonfire night can't come soon enough.

If you go for shoes then stick with something the guys (and gals) on here recommend - theyve done the miles.
