Hi folks hope we are all well.

I have a problem, on my backswing I am bending my left leg and dropping my torso down about six inches plus, then on my downswing im springing back up too fast meaning im topping the ball, im right handed. I noticed that Tiger does a similar thing but only to a tiny degree.

I tried tensing my legs during the swing but this led to me swinging like a robot, The other thing I thought about was getting someone to hold my hair while I swing so if I drop I will now about it.

Hopefully one of you guys will be able to offer some advice.

(P.S am also leaving my hands open at impact, anyone got a drill to make me strike the ball cleanly with a square club face?)

I used to do a similar thing with my lower half but not as severe as yours sounds.

Tips i got were:

1 - At address, imagine your lower body is immersed in concrete and cannot move at all, all the movement is in the upper half, granted it will feel funny for a while but it works

2 - again, at address, place a ball under the ball of your left foot and try gripping it, swing nice and easy and don't worry about the type of shot that results, it's all about getting the lower body still. It's good to try this on the carpet at home in your bare feet, just keep making backswings with a wedge to get that solid feel with your lower body.

Hope this helps

For your left leg try Practicing with a closed stance right foot back a bit put most of your weight on your left side it will give you the feeling that you are hitting in to a solid left side and create an in to out feeling also try to feel you are keeping your shoulders level.

try this for now and let us know how you get on.

Try getting a small inflated beach ball and place it between your legs (ooo er matron!!!) and swing normally.

The ball will create resistance and will stop your legs collapsing or moving too much. You can then coil from the top creating huge amounts of power and bomb it miles (not sure why I'm giving you all this help so you can use it against me when we play but hey thats the kind of guy I am!!)

as for the open hands, i was doing this and my pro got me to stand with my legs together, and play the ball. I dont know how it helps but it does, you have to be aware that you need to turn the hands over at impact. But not to early.
Try some shots with the feet together, and making a point of turning the hands through the shot. Dont worry about distance or you'll fall over.

Also helps if you physically get some one to turn the club for you whilst practicing a slow back swing, then squaring it for you at the bottom and then closing on the way up. Its hard to explain properly but basically you have to do it in slow motion with someone guiding the club. It gets the feeling back for you

Try concentrating on keeping the flex in your right knee and making a rotational move away from the ball.

I know it is your left side dipping but it will help you keep your height on the takeaway.

I have been goin through this at the moment - I have tried numerous methods, one that 'seems' to work at the moment is keeping my eyes focused on the back of the ball and keeping head down the full way through the swing. I was lifting my head and opening the shoulders thus big slice.

As per demo by Homer- Click me to see Homer in Action

That beauty was one of my good ones. Stuck it to about ten feet and nearly made birdie. Was good for a half though. Since that picture I've worked a lot more on keeping the lower half quiet so there is less leg action
