Just got back into golf recently, having dabbled for 45 ish years!. Golf has always been around me, having been brought up in Southport, my house backed onto the Hesketh LInks, and my dad was an artisan member at Royal Birkdale. The only time I have had a proper handicap was 20 years ago when I was given 26, but never played to it, as I say, I have only dabbled.
Anyway, I've got a bit more time on my hands, so I've bought some new clubs, Nike Slingshot irons & hybrids, Nike Machspeed 11.5* Driver, & had 3 lessons with the local pro.
With a slightly changed grip & swing, I've had 6 rounds in the new era, and had a bit of a nightmare but slightly improving, Hitting about 120 ish for 4 rounds. Last week after the front 9 (hit 60) I put the driver away & just used the irons, which were improving, and hit 49 on the back 9. Did a bit of work on the range(only 100 balls during the week), Went out yesterday, hit a couple of good drives, and some excellent irons, and hit the best round I have ever played, 95. How chuffed do I feel. To be fair conditions were very good, but 95.
Just need to do a bit more work on my driver, & pitching, then try to get used to my 3 & 4 hybrids, & get a decent 3 wood.
Oh yes, and I'm not daft enough to think I'll better this, or get near it next time out. It's a funny old game
