Hello,

Just looking for a bit of advice. I am looking to get an HD Freeview box and I was just wondering what everyone else uses and what you think of it? Also is it possible to get a box that can record HD. I was looking on the Freeview website but couldn't get into the HD section.

Cheers

There are loads of HD Freeview boxes that can record too...just look for one that says +R or something.

Mine's a FreeSAT HDR device, as I have a satellite dish, but the effect it much the same as Freeview.

I think they pretty much all have Electronic Programme Guides and Series Link options for recording, which is great, (if you've never had one before).

Freeview HD has been out for a short time now. I wanted to get a freeview HD box but in the end my TV died so I bought one with inbuilt freeview and freesat HD.

If you want "just a box" - you could buy almost anything although rumour has it (amongst A/V anoraks) freesat HD has the better picture.
If you want a box with a hard drive built in to record HD TV, I would recommend just the one. The Humax....like this one BUT with inbuilt hard drive.

Humax absolutely busted their backsides to be the first company to release the freeview HD box and although I can't find it, I *thought* followed it with a version with inbuilt PVR.

But, early doors is early doors. It's expensive and there are only 2 HD freeview channels (to my knowledge) at the moment. The longer you can wait, the better.
I watch BBC/ITV through my "old" Humax PVR and when a program pops up saying it's on HD, I switch over to freesat HD and watch it, but often there's no signal anyway.....like during the PGA championship on Sunday.
Tonight, I watched "Luther" in HD....and yes, it's very very good.

PM me if you want to know anything else.
