Have you got plans to go to the Olympics?

I really like the Olympics. I managed to go to the Olympics in Beijing and had a great time. We even lucked out to get almost trackside tickets for the final night of the Athletics.
I entered my name for quite a few tickets for the London games but all I got was two tickets to one of the early rounds of the badminton at Wembley Arena so it's a bit of an anti-cimax. As a bonus, I commute to London everyday so I'm going to get loads of travel delays. :(

You are lucky. The Chinese clamped down on business visas for one year prior to the Olympics, making it really difficult for those of us who needed to go to china for work. Absolute bunch of divots in charge over there. We very nearly pulled about 10 mill of work and put it in India because it was so hard to get there. Immediately after the Olympics, it was back to normal. Still annoyed with it now.

The visa situation was a nightmare, they clamped down so much that people who had tickets couldn't get visas. They resold at lot during the games to avoid having empty stadiums. That's why we were able to buy extra tickets while we were out there. We were lucky with the visa as my wifes father was working out there in the British embassy so he knew the process to get our visa sorted quickly and made sure we applied with plenty of time.

He was the only one who did know the system, as most of the visa agencies, and also the local authorities in china were clueless.

Love sport and the Olympics. And got tickets for some of the athletics finals - not sure without looking and I'm 200 miles from home at present. Daughter no.1 lives in central London, so hotel is sorted.

Chris, I'll wave to you.

I will probably be the one right at the back peering through the largest pair of binoculars you've ever seen!

Got tickets for two athletics sesions and a hockey session. Really looking forward to it. My home train station has direct trains into Stratford so transport is easy as well.

Sorry to those who have no interest or can't afford tickets... it must be incredibly galling to witness the amount being spent on the whole thing.

The whole thing has become political unfortunately.

Seriously? Is that how much it cost for a ticket.... for one day/evening? Holy cow!

Not first time round there was a range from about £40 (I think) up to £000's depending on session and seating.

The 2nd chance tickets you could select sessions and seats and, for anything worthwhile, that was the "cheapest".....

By pure luck I managed to get tickets for the swimming in the morning and athletics in the evening of the same day. Additionally I got two tickets for the football at Wembley and by pure chance they are for the day that Team GB plays. All my son wants is for Becks to be captain!

I lucked in on this one for two raesons :

1). My sister lives in Dorking so I can see the men's & women's cycle races &
2). I only applied for four tickets, and got four tickets, for the evening of Aug 5th.
The top events I will be watching are, as well as various medal ceremonies,

Women's 400m hurdles, round 1
Women's triple jump Final
Men's 100m Semi Finals
Men's 1500m Semi Finals
Men's 400m Semi Finals
Women's 400m Final
Men's 3000m Steeplechase Final
Oh..........and one more.....
.

Men's 100m Final :ears:

And all in one three hour session..............how good is that?

I can't bloody wait, problem is , I have one, maybe two spare tickets, can't decide who to give them to!

Slime.
