OK guys before anyone says anything I'm not going to go into a Homeresque rant. However and perhaps it is just me but I don't see the fascination with just sticking my name up on an internet site to talk to people who may or may not share a fascination and passion for golf.

Before anyone says that is double standards, I am on here purely because it is somewhere to talk about my life consuming passion (apart from HID) and with people I'd make an effort (and have done) to meet.

Sorry NQT but I'll pass

be my friend, be my friend, be my friend..errr even if you have never met me....
I dont get that at all, it serves no social or genuine leisure purpose. Forums are to discuss shared past times/sports or byegones, bebo and face book are being banned in my office by yours truely because they are mindless juvenile inventions which serve no constructive purpose except for forcing advertising (more and more as it develops) and a lot of people are suckered into it via peer pressure.
Sorry fella, I think im in the skin crawl section :D

lmao, I got roped into this by some junior member sof my family, I was in there for almost 7 minutes before wishing someone would nuke the server.lol.

Its chidish, invasive and poorly controlled and they are just the good points, no doubt they all send each other these 'post it 10 times in a minute or you will have a corrinory thrombosis' kind of messages...

Not for me thankyou.

Herb, there are a couple of lads (and a lass) in my office who are damn near addicted to it, I have locked down their machines for internet use and they keep trying to get round the filters, they know its against company policy but still try...I just dont get it. Cant they just send daft messages outside work hours when they arnt supposed to be working?
Apologies, back on topic!

Golf to me is constructive and I check occasionally, facebook is left open and refreshed over and over again to see if anyone has replied to the "who did you try to snog at the weekend" on the machines used by the younger staff.
Im 32 now and just dont get it, its as if this is just another means to pass the day and do as little work as possible.

Sorry to upset you guys but sometimes I think you take life waaaaaaay to serious! Each to there own and all that but Facebook isn't as bad as you all make out.

It lets you control everything you want, set privacy levels for everything and even lets you choose what you want to have displayed on your own profile. So if you dont want all the mumbo jumbo, games, applications etc, you dont have to.

When I left school I lost touch with almost everyone. Since joining Facebook, the amount of old friends I have found is unbeleivable and am very greatful for. Its free to use so I dont see why people slate it.

And no I dont sit pressing the re-fresh button to see if the guy on the otherside of the room has replied, I log in when I have spare time to see what people are doing with them selves etc. This subject was brought up in the past and some people went on about sado's spending all day on myface, but the amount of time some of us spend on here is just as bad! :D

So if anyone of our regular uses of facebook have an account by all means add me. Search Tony Nicholls and there is a pic of me with sunglasses on. Add me with a message saying your are a GMer.

I used to be in the anti facebook brigade but I have been brought round by seeing what it has to offer. Plus all my mates have it. I signed up not long ago, about a month I think.

Hey guys

If you have a facebook account please join my group! I have a friend who I keep nagging to that I want to buy his 3 wood. If I get 500 members he will give it to me for free, its a Taylor Made r7 so please help!

I kno facebook makes some peoples skin crawl but please help if you can!

link is : http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=30771799818&ref=mf

Although I have a facebook account, I really don't use it other than to message mates & as a simple blog service ever once in a while I know people who seem to do nothing but playing interactive games & poker on it, though that really does not appeal. As for the idea of joining a group of a person I don't know other than having read a few of their posts on this forum I certainly wouldn't invite as a friend or as to be or give permission to be one of mine so, in short its a polite... get lost, though best of luck... rofl.

Ok, done
I'm similar to afew posts on here, facebook is how I keep in touch with family and friends who are off travelling or live a long way from me but I don't spend all day on it, I check it briefly on an evening when I've got a spare few minutes :)
good luck with you're quest.

It a cool website where you can put a picture of your face on a book and then have it go to press. If people buy enough of them you get free money.... :D pull the other one toyboy! :p

I've joined. I'm the one in the green mankini..... just a pic from the stag weekend.

I too use facebook to keep in touch with friends, family and to a point socialise, It's a good laugh.

I would say facebook is alot more socially accepted than a golf forum. Ie. facebook you are chatting to people and keeping in touch with people you already know. On here we are all chatting to complete strangers.

I know what one sounds lest risky to me.
