Saw a post on here recently saying that in the US they are giving away hybrids or fairway woods with the Diablo driver. Today receive a email from Callaway promoting a free Oddyssey putter with every Diablo driver bought. Now seeing as these 'free' clubs cost about £100 then the driver is effectively being sold for about £90. I have never seen such a drastic promotion of a recently released club and as I would assume that the best sales of a new driver are within the first months of release, could it be that Callaway have got it very wrong with the design of this club. At this rate I expect to see them on sale for £50 by the end of the season.

I'm sure it works and does what it says on the tin but I think the problem with it is the look. It just doesn't look right - like its got a boil on its heel!!
You would have to think there's something not quite right - could it be that there's a new insert coming from Odyssey and thery're trying to shift old stock?

I had one on demo the other day at my club and the look is a little unusual but the sound is superb. I then tried a G10 on Monday and both me and the 2 guys I play with think the Diablo is much better.

That was me who mentioned the US deal. For the record that was supposed to finish in May but they extended until end of June. However the offer isn't restricted to the Diablo both FT9 and FTIQ have similar offers they just cost a bit more see link below.

I think these clubs are getting a bit of unfair stick. The draw may look a little odd but they certainly aren't the worst looking club, and certainly better looking than the old Big Bertha driver.

US Callaway offer.

I think Callaway started off down a wrong road after the 1st X series woods. The Big Bertha's that came in after that didn't do too well and the 2nd X series didn't cut it either.

I've hit the Diablo 6 iron and it was ok, nut I hait a new X-22 tour and my X-20 tour 6 irons as well and they felt better - the face seems a bit long.

I didn't like the Diablos from the moment Mike showed me one in the GM gear vaults. It looked like a piece had been chopped off the bak of the head and the draw version just looked ugly behind a ball.

THe irons are OK but not a patch on the X22 tours which are pretty sexy. The hybrid seems overpriced and middle of the road compared to Cobra, TM and even the Mizuno hybrids.

I thought the original BB were great drivers (I've got a BB 460 11 degree neutral from around 4 years ago) but thought the Hyper X were a bit of a rushed after thought. Never got on with their square models.

Shame they are not offering it in the UK!

I just bought an FT-9...really like it! A new 3 wood would do nicely

oh yes they are!

direct golf are doing the deal on their website, various others are too

Not the same deal only putters free and only for the Diablo driver no Ft deals. I wonder why they choose putters in the UK over the fairway/hybrid option.

Homer your right about those X22's in fact all the X22's are pretty nice. Each to our own though. Can't wait till Sat 13th June. First day of my hol in US and HID has already accepted first thing we do on the first day is go buy my new driver and fairway/hybrid Diablo.

You obviously weren't hitting the G10 properly then
:D

What all 3 of us! No the G10 went ok but the head of the club is big and the sound and feel was not as good IMO I never said the G10 was a bad club. I guess with all the hype about the G10 I was expecting more.

I was joking... ;)
I personally love my G10. Was a big step for me going from small headed woods to the new, bigger ones and I was a little apprehensive at first.
But it offers so much forgiveness, and with that comes confidence.
;)

This was never meant to be a comment on the quality of the club as we all have preferences. The point was that usually new Callaway kit sells, as do new releases by Taylormade, Nike and any of the other big names. What surprised me was the fact that Callaway were having to offer such massive promotions to sell these clubs so soon after release. it is not as if the club is excessively expensive it just seems that the look, the name or something has really put off the average golfer from buying.

Just had an email from American Golf today and they ae offering any Odyssey putter for £1 if you buy a Diablo driver. They can't be selling many of them so are tempt you into them with this offer.
Why buy one if they are no good just to get a decent putter, you would be better off just buying the putter at full price and buying a half decent driver.

"This is an online offer only"
