Ive come to the conclusion that i can not play this game with a hat on. I dont normally wear a hat but a few weeks ago i returned home after a 36 hole comp looking like a lobster my face was so red from the sun all day.So i went out and bought a titleist baseball cap now when i play i find myself following the club back with my eyes and its putting my swing plane out and struggle with making good contact with the ball. i take the hat off and i am much better. i know i could ditch the hat and just use sun screen but my hair is starting to thin so would like to wear a hat for protection. Will i get use to the hat and does anyone else have a similar problem

no-one can answer if you'll get used to it.

you could use a beany type hat or flat cap to protect the napper, or what about the sunvisor ones

I used to never be able to wear a hat, but one day about 3 years ago I had to due to the same issue - sun beating down and the propensity to burn my face off. So got one and since then feel the opposite that I can't play without one. It's odd.
Turned up for a medal the other week without one and somehow just didn't feel prepared. It's mental!

Hat all the way for me. I can't play without one. I find wearing a peaked hat helps me to block everything else out and concentrate on my shot. I will wear a peaked hat even when it is raining, (even though some say the wet weather one looks stupid). I think with time you will get over the initial difference that wearing a hat gives you. Another thing that may be worth doing is trying a hat with a different colour on the undersideof the peek. My mate hates playing in one that does not have black on the underside of the peak as he says it puts him off.

The no hat thing works for Robert Rock, but then I think he just wants to show off his barnet!

I like having a cap or visor -- it helps to shut out external distractions for me. I like it when I am trying to read a putt and trying not to be too influencd by other slopes that are not affecting my putt.

You could get a shorter billed cap that's not going to protrude into your eyeline as much....

Edit: try different colours or ones with darker undersides on the peak. I hate white peaks as there is too much glare.

If the sun is out and beaming down, I will wear one. If it isn't so bright, I won't.

Hat for me, just changed had a baseball hat with a white underside to the peak but hte glare was to much, so bought a new hat with a black underside, which is a lot less distracting.

I've also got a stetson, Greg Norman style hat which really blocks out all visual distrations, I usual wear that when I know my game is going to be pants in order, or more in hope people look at the hat and not the shot I've just taken :mmm:.

But for a lack of hair I would not choose to wear one. Despite our iffy summer I have managed to burn my head a couple of times having forgotten to take a hat with me. Well sore. :(

Only wear the hat between shots. Take it off when playing.

In a 4 hour + round of golf - maybe 20 mins of sun on yer napper . Happy days.

I Have tried this and its annoying taking it off and on. i did buy a white Titliest hat never really thought about the colour of the peak underneath. i also own a beige Taylormade cap the military type but when i wear that my mates make Train noises and say i look like a milkman. Plus have the same problem. and i dont want to wear a visor that is sooo wrong its not even a real hat

I need a hat; easiest way to keep hair from blowing in my face. Would probably rather not though and am in danger of developing a Mickleson-style baseball cap tan - NOT a good look! :mmm:
