At my level if i knew i had 126yds to the pin left of centre, i'd bet my wages i wouldn't land it within 3ft of the pin so knowing the actual yardage wouldn't make a huge difference tbh.

Got one for xmas. Played in three comps--two society outings and a team event at home.
Won all three events.
The biggest difference is knowing the exact distance to the back and middle of the greens, this allows you to commit to the shot.
