If so, what were your thoughts????

Looking at a "luxury" holiday for next year for just me and the Missus.
Got some money (inheritance) burning a hole in our pockets and I don't need any more golf clubs.
:D

My m8 has been twice Rob and raved about it both times. Haven't been myself but def on my radar for some scuba diving.

I'll ask my m8 where he was and get you some info.

I went a few years ago and it is by far my favourite holiday destination. The island is stunning, the people ver friendly and the food and drink superb (the local rum is excellent). This is what the Carribean would have been like if it had not been taken over by the Americans and their cruise ships. The predominant influence is French. I am quite well travelled so have been to a fair few places to compare Mauritius against and it is head and shoulders above them all.

I raved about it so much that my parents went the year after having previously always gone to Antigua and they are totally converted and will be going there again instead of their favourite Carribean resort that they have been going to for the previous 20 years.

If you can take your clubs with you as well then do as there are some stunning courses that are not ridiculously expensive. The resort I stayed at even had its own little par 3 course so I could go for a knock around whilst my wife lazed by the pool. Even if you are planning on playing and hiring clubs, take balls as they are expensive on the island.

Rob - Mauritius always enjoyed by my clients, and having been myself - I can see why. Lovely place, lovely people, and spoilt for choice for some superb Deluxe Hotels.

Belle Mare is a good choice if you want some Golf while you're there, as its included, as is Le Telfair I beleive too.
'Best' Hotels ? - perhaps the One & Only St Geran, Le Touessrok, Le Prince Maurice, Anahita,........I could go on & on.
Got some clients back at Prince Maurice at the moment - they went last year on Honeymoon and couldnt wait to return.

Best time to visit - April - June or Sept - Nov.

If you want some more help in putting something together properly, drop me a line, its what iv'e done for 30yrs, and now work from home, using only the most reliable sources in the Travel Trade.

Let me know

i went for my honeymoon in 2009, this was before i started to play golf so dont know about the courses, but the island was lovely on the coast, went into capital ciry one day and it was horrible.

we stayed at a small spa place called paul and virginie, really lovely....local rum is devastatingly sweet and strong, could only stomach it for a couple of days.

went snorkelling for first time ever so was good fun, just sont bother going into town!

Fella at our club is from Mauritius, he has a villa he rents out, can have word or get the website for it if you want?

Thanks for the offer Parmo, really nice of you mate. But we're looking to do an "all inclusive" package to give the missus a bit of "pampering"...
Have been checking the costs of just flights out to there and can't believe that for not much more than the flight prices you can get 14 nights all inclusive for just a little bit more. OK we won't eat or drink in every night, we will venture out and find some nice restaurants/bars but I understand it's not cheap once you're out there for food or drink so all inclusive seems the ideal way to go.
Thanks once again for the offer though mate.
Rob
