The govt can only do as much as this. At least it makes life uncomfortable for the individual, they will be restricted in terms of travel to largely the US only, and it will be a running embarrassment for America. I agree in your assessment though.

I don't think anyone in the US will be embarrassed in the slightest. It will be swept under the carpet of the back bedroom and ignored forever.
The only issue it has created for them is that one of their spies has been outed as a result of his wifes actions. That will be their sole concern.
