Harrington staying with Wilson

Good on Padraig I say

I'm sure they are paying him oodles of cash to be the face of the brand but which company wouldn't want a 3 time major winner on their books?

Mind you I would never choose a set of irons based on which pro plays them and I would guess that's the same for pretty much everyone on the forum

Great move in my opinion. If i were Wilson, I would be doing everything I could to keep him too. There kit is excellent and I feel it will fast become one of the leading brands.

As for Tigers clubs being mizunos well... some people say that if Tiger woods closes his eyes he can still see through his eye lids, others say that the Nike tick is actually hebrew for tiger and was added to the language for the day he was born... All we know is, Mizuno would never let that happen!

I remember reading an article with a guy who ground clubs and he admitted that they used to make clubs for other pros under different contracts but I really can't see Nike allowing their biggest star (regardless of sport) to use anything other than Nike.

Especially as they have had all this time (and money) to get his clubs right. I beleive that they used to be made by Miura, but are now Nike. He certainly still uses a Scotty, with a blacked out Ping grip.

I agree with much that's been said and I think he's made the right choice by not chasing the Taylormade/Callaway/Nike dollars...however......

I think this deal may be more to do with the fact that it still gives him more freedom than any other top 10 golfer to use whatever gear he wants. I say this beacause I watched Padraig play at the Dunhill a few weeks back and all I could see in his Wilson bag that were actually Wilson were his irons. He had a TM 3 wood, Odyssey putter and although he had the Wilson Spine cover on his driver, it was actually a Titliest he was playing.

If his new Wilson deal only covers 8/9 clubs and the bag etc then he would have been mad to turn that down. Harrington can now be looking around the range at what new clubs are being released and think "I'll give that a go next week"

There is no way on earth a Callaway/TM/Nike tour player would be allowed such luxury What is the standard deal? 11/12 clubs????

For me this speaks volumes for him and his business manager/agent's skills in setting up the best deal for him
