Hardest course you've ever played

The one i've always found hard is Bowood in Wiltshire. Plays about 7000 off the whites and 7300 off the blues and not once have I played to h/c including the fact that sss is 74/75 respectively.

Its not the length on its own but its got some horrible rough and trees and water etc and also you have some big carries just to reach the fairway. Blind drives and big doglegs dont help and some lightningly fast greens in the middle of summer.

would agree with IMO1....montemayor was toughest....if you didn't hit the fairway it was lost ball...simple as that...lost several that day....actually think there were 16 of us playing that day and the lost ball count was in excess of 200....!!!!

Fella from my club played it a month before our 1st visit and he ran out of balls.....16 gone after 10 holes!

Fellas that sell bags of balls on the golf courses normally do my head in. The guys that sell bags of balls half way up the mountain @ Monte are a necessity otherwise 50% of people wouldn't be able to finish their round!!

Lostwithiel down in Cornwall, for no other reason than the first 4 or 5 holes are up the side of a mountain and i was absolutely knackered after 30mins.

Another one for Montemayor. Driving up to get to it you just think "how the funk did someone fit a golf course up here".

Mention in dispatches for Perranporth, baked hard with a freezing cold 3 club breeze. Paul Broadhurst played 2 groups in front of us and walked in the clubhouse after a 78 and said "if I had to play that course every week I'd give up!"

Perranporth is the hardest course I've played. Once of those you need to play a couple of time so you know where you need to put the ball off the tee.

I think I lost about 8 balls that day!!!
