Hard to concentrate

Had a really sad evening on Friday. Our little dog we got from a rescue centre two and a half years ago, has been suffering with Lymphoma for the last 20 months. We had the awful journey to take him to say our final goodbyes.

I must say the Liverpool Small Animal Teaching Hospital on the Wirral were absolutely fantastic. All the staff there have been so kind since we first took Rupert there when he was first diagnosed. Right to the end they were everything and more that you would want from vets.

It really threw us, even though we knew this day was coming, it has not made it any easier. And it has made the house feel bare. Personally I feel its as bad as losing a child, most children grow up to be independent whereas pets need us to care for them throughout their life.

Anyway here is pic of the little fella that brought us so much happiness, and has left us with so many happy memories

horrible to hear. Pets are so much more than ...pets.

Going through similar with our 11 yr old Newfoundland, not easy.

Sorry to hear, we were making the same journey there a few months ago with our nelson, he had the same (lymphoma). We were seeing the Australian girl and Aaron.

Ours only lasted two months of treatment, then we had to do the same.

We now have a little sod of a jack russell called Flash, luckily he is improving his behaviour daily, and he has to a point replaced our previous dog, but not all. Good memories remain.

Hard emotions, but you'll come through ok.

I broken my heart on a day like that a a few times. Best thing is to get another that had a poor start and give that a great life.

Sorry to hear that. Try to focus on the good times you had and those memories will last forever. I guess a big well done to the vets too from the sound of the OP and their dignified handling of the sad event.

Its horrible, I lost one of my Retrievers last year - Its not nice but you are actually doing it for them , it a commitment you make to them. Ive rescued 3 Retrievers now and they never replace the previous dog but are totally separate personalities - life would be a poor place without dogs!

Yep, our two were rescue dogs also - little tip don't get a jack Russell with an angelic face, big stupid ears and looks like sooty - he's a devil in disguise, but we'll be patient with him, and he is improving.......

Jack Russells are just nutters full stop mate. We got ours off a farm and he is still mad as a box of frogs at 3 years old

Its all part of their character though and its why we love him. Its a bit much when we have people round and he goes in their handbags but I do warn them :rofl:

Terrible news. It is on a par with losing a family member in my opinion.

Just remember the good times and all the joy you gave him as well as he gave you. You both would have missed out had you not got him so just remember that :thup:
