Hands up who knows the rules on 'Advice' in competition golf?

this is, surprisingly, one rule I know. why is it though that you have to rely on the decisions tomb to get the answer? this one is pretty simple, a decision shouldn't be necessary.

easiest way out of this is that if you have a gps, wait until asked or hang it where they can read it for themselves.

(I did play with one guy who insisted that he could read distances so didn't need a gps, laser or scoresaver. He wasn't within 10 yards once! Didn't matter though as he had 'adjusted' to what he thought were the distances and just played the club he needed.)
 
Why did many people think it poor wording? It's quite clear and very precise. There's no doubt. Distances from DMDs are fine & don't count as advice - but only if use of DMDs is permitted by local rule.
