Handicap Target!!!

I got my handicap of 21 in may of last year and snapped my Achilles a week after getting it playing football...I spent 10 weeks in a cast and through recovery and physio i couldnt actually play full rounds till about 3 months ago...I played 1 club comp and won it and got cut to 20...With this being a new year and after retiring from football my goal is to drop my handicap to 12 in 12 months....With dedication and plenty of games and practice i think this is achievable fingers crossed..... :)
 
I remember a similar thread this time last year. I didn't really set a target but said I'd like to get to 18. Didn't manage it,nowhere near.
With my good start to the year I'm gonna set the target this time, and really feel confident that 18 is now achievable.

My glass is always half full :D :D

actually, can I go for 13.6....it'd be nice to see a shot on a par 5 since the new millenium...... :( :(

I'm currently playing off 23 and have set myself a target of 17.4.

I've got enough in my locker ability wise to get down to that and below, i just need to keep my concentration and play simple golf.

Once i've reached the said target i will then treat myself to a brand spanking new set of sticks ;)
 
And promptly go back up again.

Haha i know, though i will only replace my mp30s with a newer version (mizuno man me). I think i've set that little treat so i don't just go and blow all my doh on new sticks now!

All the gear no idea springs to mind ;)
 
Birdieman, I see you have a 20.5 hybrid. Isn't that a bit close to your 4 iron?
Maybe you could try the 18 degree hybrid which would fit the gap nicely between your 3 wood and 4 iron.

Interesting point Bob , I use a 17* hybrid and irons from 3 up. Maybe I could ditch the 3 and get an extra wedge ... hmmm

17 deg is pretty much a 2 iron. What woods do you carry?

The 17* mx700 , a 15* f60 (dont like it much) and a driver
 
Currently 18, but have regulary shot 40+ points with society at away courses, but have struggled to shoot below handicap at home course. Lots of short game practice over winter will see my club handicap down to 14/15 over the next year. Hopefully :D

I'm in the process of getting my handicap. I've done one card - 85 - par 72 - not sure what the SSS was. I'll have to see how the next two cards pan out and what I'm given.

I'd like to finish the year in single figures. My last official handicap was 10.6 so I think I've got the game to do that.

Also, I'm in the process of sorting my clubs out so that's an aim as well this year.
 
Joined my first club last March (I'm in my mid 50s) and was given a h/c of 26. A bit disappointed as I know I can play better than that. However i finished the year on 26.2, but things were getting better towards the end of the year with a bit more consistancy. As a guy said just before christmas you are a dangerous 26 h/c, as I have been drawn against his best mate in our winter KO
I'm more of a person who would set realiatic goals so my target is 24 anything lower than this would be a bonus.

The taylormade r580xd is that not on the banned list? maybe wrong but i thought my mate had one he had to change.

There was a conforming and a non-conforming version. There are pics on the R&A site of both clubheads. Conforming has scores across the whole clubface, non-conforming hasn't got any scores on the impact area.
 
In my mind I can see scores across the clubface but I'll have to check tonight now.....

I'm hoping it's non-conforming - I'll have to buy a new, all singing, all dancing, custom fitted, it'll make me a pro Driver!!!
