Handicap... Again!!!

Good morning all,

Apologies for yet another handicap question but here it is:

I hit a net 70 in my Medal this weekend with the CSS being 71. My handicap is 18.5 so was expecting a 0.3 reduction but as it turns out I have been adjusted by 0.6 to 17.9????

Could this be down to my score being rounded down to a treble bogey on one hole where I hit a 7 (Seven) on the par 3 2nd?

I am happy to be cut 0.6 but was just confused as to why, after being 1 under CSS, I have been cut as if I was 2 under CSS?

Yeup.
A big score will be rounded down to a net double bogey for h/cap purposes.

Don't know if your club uses Club2000 (the software that links with HowDidIDo) but if so the print out of the competition results will include the "@" symbol next to all the scores that were adjusted like this for handicapping. It just gives you a reminder that it wasn't as simple as the nett/CSS - something else is going on.
