h/c at new club

i know what SSS should do but in reality how many on these pages have played with someone of the same h/cap from an easy course in say an invitational and wondered how they got it,i still say a 10 h/c player from a long tough narrow course is a better player than one from a wide open no trouble easier course.

so is it not logical that someone joining a new club that is classed as easy by my definition and bringing a h/c from a tough course should be given a lower h/c and has to work their way up rather than the h/c they had and playing to one lower one.

am i the only one who thinks a h/cap is only relevant in theory to the course it was obtained at,if your h/cap was acquired at say a flat easy up and down short course or a easy 9 hole how would that then relate to a tree lined narrow fairways monster course,by all means take into account previous h/cap certs. but it must be based on how you score on your new course.

Agree completely, although I don't think it will be relevant for the first 3 cards where worse than double is revised down to double. Whilst that continues in practice when reviewing competition cards, a low handicapper from an easy course will more likely struggle on a brutal track in a medal comp because there are more holes that can wreck a card. A solid golfer can get away with ordinary shots on a short, straight forward course but will get torn to shreds on a 7000yard, tight fairway brute unless that CSS varies by 10 shots from an easy track which is never the case.
