Gym and Golf.

I agree if you are talking about general fitness, ie core exercises, eating healthily, track work,
swimming, stretching, pilates, yoga, etc

Not so sure about bench pressing big weights and building muscle mass though.

Compare Rory's physique now compared to 2011 he is a fair amount bigger - if it aint broke don't fix it!

Pretty sure after his year last year he's proved it was 'broke' to some extent, and he did fix it

Westwood , Rose etc they all bench press

McIlroy can hit the ball as far as he can because of that extra strength

He isn't breaking anything - he is improving it - his swing gets better each year

He is a better golfer now than he was in 2011 - the amount of tournaments won over the last 12 months suggest that whatever work he is doing is improving him

Nailed it

I guess time will tell. Same could be said for Tiger arguably a better player when he was his natural build (lean and wimpy) back in the early days.
There's no argument that this is incorrect. tiger was bigger in his prime years, he was only 'wimpy' when he first came on tour

It can work the other way. Clarke, Westwood and Monty all lost form when they overdid the gym and bulked out. I think it has a place in golf, particularly for core strength and I think McIlroy is sensible enough not to follow Woods and go too far with it

really? think you may be a bit confused here Homer. Monty bulked out? he lost form when he lost a load of weight, similar with Clarke initially. Nothing to do with bulking out too much in the gym

Both admitted to a gym regime. While bulking may not be the right description they all suffered from vigorous gym sessions and form dipped. It can work either way

I believe also Westwood got to World Number one after introducing a gym regime
