GUR rule - Help

Morning all,
Please can someone help me out on a ruling. A few bunkers have been declared GUR recently due to poor conditions. We played yesterday and my partners ball finished on the edge of the bunker, not in it. When playing the shot he had no option but to stand in the bunker. I then gave him free relief as the GUR interfered with the shot. We were'nt sure on the rule so I came to this decision using the same rule as free relief from a path which you can get if you are stood on it to take a shot.

Does anyone know the correct rule for this? I need to know as my partner seems to like the bunkers.

You were correct - if the GUR interferes with lie of ball, stance or swing then you can have relief....

Hi,
Go you have to find your ball in GUR if it has been dug up and is all mucky it's very hard to find a ball in it so do u need to find it.

No. But it needs to be known or virtually certain that the ball is in the condition.

Some GUR you can still play the ball as it lies unless it stipulates that you MUST take relief in the local rules
