Can't really grumble but.............

Todays round.

Fairways hit - 75% (scratch standard)
Putts - 27 (Pro)
Birdie chances converted - 33% (Pro)
Par scrambles - 50% (2 hcap)
74 shots

GIR - 33% (9 hcap)... bugger, bugger, bugger..............

Only 6 greens hit - 3 of them par 3's. Hit 9 fairways and only made the green 3 times.

Need to work on my irons.............

massive hc difference but I rarely convert good drives/tee shots into GIR :(

maybe you take the foot off slightly and dont concentrate as much on the approach after a good drive etc?

74 shots tho Imurg.. ya gota be happy with that. do you find its the same kinda range ie 150-160 your missing greens or is it across the board ?

No real pattern to it.
I'll nail a 4 iron to 10 feet then miss a PW by 5 yards
Then nail a 8 iron to 10 feet and miss a 6 iron by 5 yards....

This is exactly why I am rebuilding my swing. I got fed up with the same inconsistency. Apparently, when we are finished, my bad shots should still be somewhere on the green.

It is a long way from being finished though!

Are the misses due to poor direction or bad strikes?

I think it's alignment Bob..
Going out Solo this afternoon when it's really quiet to work on it, lay the V-easy down to check things out.
Strikes are ok, the odd one a bit heavy but generally ok.
To be fair we did have a lot of pins at the front of greens yesterday and I was short 3 or 4 times but only by a yard or 2 - firing at the pin see.....!

Heck, if I can get it round in 74 I can't really complain can I?

You were being greedy then ? ;)

What's your pre shot routine like?

Not much to speak of.....

Once I have the club in my hand, I line up from behind, ball to a divot/worm cast or similar about a yard in front, settle, swing.
Sometimes I can feel that the body's lined up to target and not parallel, most of the time I correct it but sometimes I don't realise until the club's about to take the ball.....

Stats are like mini skirts, show you a hell of a lot but hide the important part!

74 blows suggest to me your making a mountain out of a mole hill. If you missed a couple of greens by 2 yards then its hardly a hardship or a major issue. If you were 20 yards off line in the cabbage then it is an issue.

Some people get hung up on stats instead of the big picture, ie 74 blows.

Also when I look back at my scores over the last 3 years, I tend to score better when I scramble, not when I hit it well! Work that one out!

sounds like the figures arent telling the whole story if you are missing a few on the front edge trying to get to a tight pin, would be more worried if youre missing that many greens wide.

I seem to constantly working off a yardage that is front edge plus 5 yards and missing a fair few on the front edge, theres far worse places to be missing at this time of year

Tell me about it!
The stats just highlight what's not working right.
As I said, I can't really complain with a 74 - just the way I compiled it. If the short game hadn't been hot it could have been a Cricket score......

Some folicly challenged driving instructors are never happy are they. 74 is a good front nine for me lately. Ask any pro and they will take a good score any which way it comes. At least you seem to know the cause which helps

So true for many low h/cappers.... miss 3 putts across the lip and that's your h/cap buggered, add in a bad lie somewhere in the round and a chip that comes up short and you're staring .1 in the face. This is why 75-80% of practice should be on short game at the low end of the h/cap spectrum.

27 putts:whoo:

Odyssey #7 TOUR by anychance :smirk:

Don't sweat the wee stuff, sounds a pretty solid round to me.
