Greens maintenance

If you can block your mind to what the green looks like, putting on recently top dressed greens is generally very true. [unless it is wet]!

This is very true. We played a society do at Caversham Heath in June shortly after the green had been worked on. After the round the whole society were complaining about the state of the greens and how they could putt on them. I shot 5 over with 27 putts and won by 8 shots. Putting is largely in the mind, if you don't think you can putt, you can't putt

If any club is hollow coring at present instead of pencil coring them they either

A) Need a new greenkeeper
B) Have serious issues with the greens

or

C) Both of the above.

Some of us dont know either way, please explain your comments so we know why in 'YOUR OPINION' they should not be done round this time. I cant wait to hear.

I tend to follow what this say as do many other websites,

On what basis are you actually qualified to make that/those statement?

And in every part of the country?

Would be interested in a reply - at least out of courtesy!

Please reveal your qualifications to cast aspertions on my views.

Ah. So that was only 'view'!

Your post didn't mention 'view', so the implication is that it's 'fact'.

And my 'qualifications' are observations that some seriously high level clubs are performing hollow-tining/coring either now or very shortly. Do your points - about needing a new HGK or serious issues with greens - apply to them all?

Now.. About your qualifications?

Hmm, a politicians response diverting the original question into one of their own, not good IMO.

We have "Course Maintenance" stated on our website diary ever day from the 19th through to the 31st August, god knows what is taking place over all that time, the greens obviously but 12 days?

Ours are being done next week. Not a bad time to do it anyway with many people away for holidays. I also understand that it's the best time to do it and gives the best results

Exactly. Ours are published in the club diary so provided that the weather doesn't mess us around too much, you can work around it to some degree if you are that bothered.
