great season

Who would you like to see have a great season in 2010? maybe winning a major. I would like to see Lee Westwood break the major barrier personally, I think he set a great platform towards the end of this season and it's time for him to step up a gear.

Re: great season

Vearing away from the obvious, I'd like to see guys like David Howell and Paul Broadhurst find where they've left their golf games. You'll not meet two nicer guys in the game and I hope they both have a better season than they did last time.

In the upper echelons I'd like to see Big Ernie get back among the Majors and bigger events - seemed to be showing a bit of form last year.

Re: great season

Agree with you over Lee Westwood, and can i add a sentimental one??

Monty to win a Major - preferably the Open.....sadly i feel this guy will forever own the title 'Best Player Never To Win a Major' and i think he deserved at least one.

Forget his manner and attitude its his golf that puts him up there

Totally agree with you on that, I always champion Monty I thought he always got a bad rap an outstanding golfer.

Re: great season

Id like to see Els or maybe Ross Fisher and i cant forget our own Harrington as he put down a bad season last year through swing changes i hope next year he'll quiten the critics that said he should'nt have done it...

Re: great season

Luke Donald, Darren Clark and as always Sergio Garcia for me. Cant see any of them winning a major in 2010 but they are all great iron players - just like me :o :p.

Re: great season

I'd like to see Ernie contend again and I think Eduardo Molinari will contend in at least one of the majors. No one has mentioned any Americans . . . . But, I think Steve Stricker will be up there.

Re: great season

Another vote for Westwood for me. Of the others, I hope Sam Hutsby has a great first full season and does the forum proud. Also like to see Ross Fisher take the next step as he seems to have the game and also comes across as a decent bloke too. Howell deserves some luck after an injury blighted few years and I think Rose was beginning to turn a corner and it would be good to see a Brit sticking it to them regularly on the PGA tour

Re: great season

Lee Westwood
McIlroy
Clarke
Fisher
Rose

With you know who out of the picture possibly think should be some fun (especially if you're a bookie)

Re: great season

Three of the English lads Westwood, Fisher and Casey all demonstrated how they have the game to compete at the very top level throughout 2009, even if the latter had his progress haltered through injury in the second half of the season. I would love them to carry on performing as well on the world stage in 2010, and maybe breakthrough the elusive major barrier. Certainly I feel all three of them would be justified in aiming for a place in the top 10 of the world rankings this time next year. Let's hope it happens!

Re: great season

Lee Westwood and also any of the young europeans - McIlroy, Kaymer, Fisher and Eduardo Molinari. Hopefully at least one of them will be contending for a major.

Re: great season

There is as much chance of Clarke performing as there is Monty.

As said before I'd go for Rory,Sergio,Fisher,Westwood if he can hit GIR,Kaymer and maybe Peter Hanson.

Re: great season

I'd like to see Casey come back good after his injury, and also think Fisher has all the attributes for major success.

But good luck to all the British boys.

Re: great season

Think Mickelson will win a 3rd masters - long hitter plus he's a great putter.
US Open and The Open - I think Harrington will take one of those his game was shaping up nicely recently after swing changes. If Tiger is back playing he must start favourite on The Old Course however.
USPGA anyone could win - just look at past winners list.

Westwood doesn't have the short game for a Major imo. Major courses are set up tough round the greens and Westwoods chipping ain't quite up to the job. Nice bloke though I agree.
If Mcilroy can really improve his putting he has a sniff at a Major but I reckon he won't do it until 2011 at the earliest.
Rest of Brits don't look sharp enough to me to win a Major in 2010. Ross Fisher looks to me to be the one to watch of the English players. Alas Scotland doesn't look to be offering much in terms of new players coming through. Richie Ramsay is showing some potential but not much else except maybe Martin Laird.

Don't you see the similarity between Garcia and Monty I must admit I'm starting to. They are both very talented golfers who constantly under achieve in the majors with both being more than good enough to win a couple.Sergio needs to make the break soon or he will be tarred with the same brush as Monty.

Re: great season

Sergio missed his chance when Padraig picked his pocket at Carnoustie. Too many hot youngsters now - McIlroy, Ishakawa, Kim, Lee, Martin. But Fisher and Westwood both look a solid bet,
