Grand National

it isnt nice to see when the horses injure themselves but you can see they enjoy the racing as even if they unseat the jockey a lot of them get back up and carry on running and jumping fences. At the end of the day injuries can happen in any sport and in any activity you do. You know full well you could get hit by a golf ball in the morning and sustain a major gash or cracked skull and never play again but you will still be there in the morning because its an activity you love doing

live by the sword die by the sword, as the saying goes

They kill the horse because it either broke a leg or is seriously injured, but why is it in this `situation? Because it was unable to jump a fence that a human being put there to make them jump. Effectivly we killed it. No way about it, if it didnt race it would still be alive.

Do you eat meat or drink milk?

They sure do Smiffy - I backed one of them yesterday in the National ridden by that dozy woman. She must have got lost half way round the track based on how far back she finished.

And as for all the idiot who posted a comment about the horses being put down because they had fallen because they were tired. Those two fell at the 4th and 6th fences and were racing accidents. They could have done the same things running about and jumping in a field. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

It is always sad to see and hear horses dying at horse racing but it is clear the horses welfare is a high priority because after the race they had plenty of buckets of water waiting to cool the hrses core temperature and this is something I have NEVER seen before. I bet in the old days they would have shot the injured horse and toed the carcase to the side of the track to allow the runners to use the fence. I thinkk they acted with lots of respect for the people watching and those connected to the poor horse.

Funny why nobody has mentioned the jockey who is in a critical condition in hospital. Get well soon liitle fella.

He he you were up early Smiffy (did you wet the bed :D ;))

with regards to the dead horses, i am no horse lover, and i am a shooting man, but seeing 2 dead horses, purely in the name of sport, in a race with far too many entrants, needs to be severly questioned.
cutting the field down, would vastly reduce the risk of falling etc, but something needs to be done
shagster :( :(

sad to see 2 dead horses but i got £750 quid back on the winner 50 quid to win but to the misses 200 quid win and the other have just got me a new set of golf clubs she was happy with 200 quid lol

But seeing loads of dead birds in the name of sport is ok? Before you start I am a shooting man too and have almost finished training my 3rd springer!

Is it any worse than battery farming of chickens? at least the horses get the best of care until the time when the get put down.

battery farming of chickens is outlawed after next year
i only do pest control now
if the grand national is to be run, why not reduce the field, as this is the main reason for fallers, but seeing dead horse is not a good site, what ever the reason
shagster :(
