Have been considering a gps watch after a weekend of misjudging my distances, bearing in mind I'm a lowly poor carpenter I'm looking at the cheaper options but with a decent amount of functions. Which ones should I be considering?

I saw a sale on the SkyCaddie Sports watch at Scotsdale last week, only £99, no membership/subscription and you still get quarterly updates for changes made to courses across the world.

There was a nearly new Golf buddy WT5 in the for sale section last week. £90 delivered but was open to offers. I have one and its the best i could find that covers the most bases for what i wanted. Front, middle and back with intelligent green, distance to hazards, shot measurement, scorecard, distance walked etc etc.

im with you on the lowly paid chippy remark;),

ive got a garmin s1 had it about 4 years now great bit of kit and does what i need it too,
and just recently bought a bushnell neo+ aswell, for when i play 36 holes, which is never .
does the same as the s1.

I bought a tomtom last year! It was a decent bit of kit!

I just tried to charge it up and it seems to be dead!. Got really hot whilst charging and then just died!!

I've got a Bushnell Neo XS. Nice watch and excellent battery life. 30,000 plus courses and free updates.

I had one bought for Xmas, only used it once.
On one hole it was saying 195yrd middle of green. It was 160 yrd at best.
Seemed better on other holes.
I'm hoping it was just a glitch

I had a problem with my Bushnell neo Xs neo+ when I first got it. It said I was 50 yards away from the pin when I was standing in the centre of the green! other holes were also a bit off.

I put the in a request and the hole course was updated on the database within a couple of days..... Reloaded and all is ok now

Also having trouble deciding which to get, I need to choose between Garmin s2 and the TomTom golfer GPS watches

Garmin seems to be the one for post round stats but the tomtom has the extra info on distances during a round

I hear the straps are pretty poor on both (compared to a watch)

Garmin updated quarterly, tomtom is daily but my courses are limited so not sure this'll be a deal breaker

Its a pressie so the £20 diff in price isn't a factor

Decisions....
