GPS not working after course change

I have played a few courses now that must of had a layout change and my garmin watch is setup for the old layout. I just wanted to ask when this happens is there an option to change holes so the watch knows and saves the new layout ? It’s not really a big deal think I’ve only came across this on 3 course and have a zapper but was just curious.

Sync your phone to the desktop app and it will apply any updates that have been added

I do not know about watches but as per Liverpoolphil I use my PC to update my handheld GPS. However the data will not be updated if Garmin have not been informed of the changes.
