Anyone used a course GPS app on an iPhone?

I have a Sky Caddie which I find very useful, should I replace it with an app now I have an iPhone 4?

There are a huge number on the app site. Just wondering what you forumers think?

Have a quick search heron and you'll see this has been discussed quite a bit. The App can't be used for competitive golf as the iPhone4 has a compass and to a lesser extent a weather App. That is it's only flaw.

It would save you taking your sky caddie in social golf but i wouldn't bother as long as you're happy with your sky caddie and the iPhone can't be used in comps

I have an IPhone4 and used Freecaddie which gives yardages to front, middle and back. It was good, but I spent a fiver on upgrading to Freecaddie Pro which shows a digital image of the hole and has yardages to hazards etc. For casual play ;) I find it excellent.

Skycaddie is a more robust unit. Should not have any battery issues for 18 holes. All courses are walked so it will be more accurate. It is legal for comps where local rule is in place

Only downside is the £30 a year subs. but the positives far outweigh this.

Stick to the Skycaddie

With the subs issue I generally play 6 or so new courses a year so it should mean you don't need to buy a strokesaver.
