Got the Superbowl Grub started

Anyone else used to listen to the games on the radio in the 80's?
I have dusty memories of my older brother tuning into some long wave US station so we could listen to live games on a Sunday night.

We used to listen to those turned down low so that our parents didn't know that we were awake.

Any just see the salary comparison of Manning v Wilson. Man in over £900k per week and Wilson £500k per year!!!

Goooooooooooo

Good start by the Seahawks but Denver doing well keeping them out of the EZ

Need to get the Man into the game

I usually go american on my snacks; hot dogs, pretzels, wings, ribs, BBQ coated peanuts, chilli nachos etc. this year I did not really prepare and just raided the fridge ended up with italian meats and cheese with olives, breadsticks and houmous.

I feel like I have let myself, America, and all of you down and should go to bed now and try again properly next year...haven't even cracked a beer or my JD yet.

Seahawks defensive line up has been phenomenal possibly the best defensive display in Superbowl ever. Wilson has shown Manning what a modern day QB is about with his passing on the move instead of just sitting in the pocket.

Truly brilliant display by Seahawks be nice to see them shut this out with at least one more TD. Just a game to far for Manning and with this win Wilson becomes the most successful player in his first 2 has a QB

Edit: There's That TD

Dunno what it was, but the Bronco's were just awful, I'm a bit wrecked this morning, but the Bronco's didn't make their first first down until the second quarter, they only managed to string a handful of decent passes together.

Overall the Seahawks kept the Bronco's very quiet, Manning did complete 33/40 passes but for just over 200yds (the last stat I remember) and that is woeful and their running game was pants as well, but what really killed the Bronco's were the 4 turnovers.

Sums the game up nicely, from the very first snap Broncos weren't at the races. I think the Broncos were shocked when the Seahawks elected to defend the start of the game it was as if Manning looked like these kids are daring to try and shut me down, well dare and do they did. It led to the safety in the first 12 seconds and that was the tone set. Really impressed from start to finish with Wilson and the Seahawks.

I also stayed up and watched the entire thing. I too am a mess this morning.

Mucho black coffee for me today

To be honest, I was expecting a non-event. Best offence (Brocos) meets Best defence (Seahawks) is a bit like fire and ice.

Broncos were on a loser from the beginning when the initail snap went straight over Mannings head. He looked lost last night and has now lost 12 of 23 post season. Apparently getting a reputation as a bit of a choker (undeserved IMHO).

Seahawkes were simply awesome last night. Nearly as good as Bruno Mars at half time

Didn't watch last night but apparently he was on the field for longer than Manning?

LOL, not sure if that is true, but it's highly possible.

I liked the symmetry of the two halves, 12 safety in the first quarter, 2nd half and kick off in the 3rd quarter, Broncos kicker tries to stand the ball up to give the Bronco's special team time to get to the ball, 12 secs later ball has been returned 87yds for a TD.

I not seen a team for a long time defend so badly and miss as many tackles as the Bronco's did last night

No idea what happened to the Broncos last night - did they freeze ?

But a lot of credit must go to the Seahawks - high energy defence that created turnovers

Fully deserved first a Super Bowl from them

Broncos now need to improve their safety's ( gutted for Champ but his time is up ) and go again next season

Without sounding like a massive big headed douchey homer (I'm a long-time Seahawks fan)...What happened to the Broncos is that they actually faced a legitimate defense for the first time this season. They didn't play one top 10 defense all year, which helped them "get it done" and put up the record breaking numbers they did. The Seahawks exposed the Broncos in every phase of the game. Even the Seahawks "Pedestrian" offense dominated.

I saw it coming last night - I wasn't 100% confident it would happen, but I knew we could blow them out, because they've not faced a team like the Seahawks all year. For the neutral fan, it must have been a horrendous game to watch, but as a Seahawks fan for the last 14 years, all my dreams came true last night. A truly wonderful night...I did seem to get some dirt in my eye when they did the trophy presentation though *ahem*.

Denver ran the same offensive gameplan they had all year. Run the two outside receivers on 9 routes or deep posts and then go underneath with Thomas and Welker. Seattle went man-for-man on the outside and took their chances on not getting called for holding which they were doing all night. They then used the safeties and the two additional defensive backs as they ran a 4-1-6 alignment most of the game, to beat up on the crossing routes and assume that Denver could not go 80 yards in 13-14 plays sticking with that philosophy. And it worked to perfection. Denver had nothing else to go to after the Seattle line stopped the draw play cold.
