Went up for a few holes tonight.
Nothing spectacular, more of a practise with a few balls in play.

Daft old dipstick me went and left my PW by the side of the 16th after pitching on.
Didn't realise until I got home......panic ensued!
Jumped back in the car and dashed back up to the course. Worried as the sun was just setting and thought it would be dark soon.
Ran up the course to the 16th.............no club! :(

Trudged back to the clubhouse and asked behind the bar.
Joyfully I received the club which some kindly golfer had handed in! :D

Overjoyed and very pleased that my wedge had been handed in. Asked the barman who had handed in the club. He pointed out the fella at a nearby table. Noticed he was drinking a lager so bought one and took it to him and thanked him profusely for his honesty and asked him to accept the pint in gratitude.

I would have been lost without my wedge, satisfying to know there are still gentlemen out there. ;)

I've done this twice lately and both times with my 9 iron!
Once at Highwoods, where I had to wait 2 weeks until it got handed in. Guy who found it had got pissed when he got back to the clubhouse and forgotten he had it in his bag. He then jetted off to America on holiday and handed it in to the pro on his return. Found out who he was and phoned him to personally thank him. I found out his wife was playing in a competition the following day so I got a nice bottle of wine as a thank you. I didn't have a clue what she looked like so I asked the asssistant pro to pass it on to her when she came to get her scorecard. That evening I got an irate phone call from her, she had a go at me for doing it!
Second time was at the recent visit to Forest Pines. This would have been a tricky one 'cos I was miles from home and could see me losing the club forever. Thankfully, after about half an hour the pro came out to say that somebody had handed it in. I was so relieved but stupidly forgot to ask if the guy who had handed it in was still around so that I could at least buy him a pint as a gesture of goodwill. Still feel guilty about that.

Played Brailes a few months ago with my brother and after a nasty shot from him into the really long stuff we went a hunting. Didn't find his ball but did find a sand wedge that looked like it had been there weeks! (was way off line)

Handed it in to the pro after the round but not sure if it got back to its rightful owner or not - I'm sure they'd have given up on it but you never know.

I left my 52 wedge on the side of a green, luckily I realised the next hole and the group behind had picked it up.

Then the other day I found a rather beaten up PW in the same predicament, handed it in the next day hopefully the owner will have picked it up.

Its a great game this :D

Was it really badly beaten up? I mean really, really badly?
If so, it was most probably James's (JustoneUK's) and I'll let him know you found it as I'm giving him a stuffing tomorrow afternoon (along with that old twonk Leftie)
;) ;) ;)

I have to say in 27 years I have never left a club on the course, but then I have always carried so I guess I dont need to walk to far from my bag with them, glad you got it back though.
