I've been invited to a competition there on behalf of work.

It's a long drive so i'm considering whether to do it or not.
Has anyone ever played there and know what it's like?

Seen it's in the top 100 in the UK!

Too many weak holes to be a really good course. Awkward layout too.

Nice day out though, especially if gratis

Chisteve on here is a member, might be worth dropping him a msg although he doesn't sign on very often.

Talking a good 3 1/2 hour drive at least (maybe 3 hours if I fly it)

Coming from Stoke area.

Free of charge and a 2 course meal too...

I would say yes it is worth it. Bring your partner as Chichester, Arundel, Petworth and Midhurst are all great and nearby so make a night of it and stay over spot you can enjoy some of the best of Sussex the following day.

That's a long way. My way of thinking, it's a two hour max course.
I wouldn't travel that far for Goodwood.

to be honest mate, its not purely for the golf.
It is quite a high profile client of ours so would be a good opportunity to talk 'business'.

Obviously if it's a nice course it would make it all the more worthwhile!

On a side note. Where abouts in Stoke are you?

Nice to have a fellow Stokie on the boards

Born and bred just outside Stoke. Now live just outside Hanley.

Play at Blythe Bridge GC.

I have a friend who is/was member of Alsager GC before he had to have back surgery.

Do it mate, great course in a fantastic setting, played it a couple of times

cheers mate I think i'm going!

If anyone is around that area then let me know - i'll be driving down the day before and hopefully sneak some practice in the night before!!!

I am indeed a member there, as others have said its a great course and you will find it a challange, can be slow if busy - its a 4 to 4.5 hour round (around 8 miles) on a good day and up and down the south downs + the views can be stunning on a clear day + there's a good halfway cafe - Kens

They have been improving the course over the last 2-3 years, the greens have improved through this

If you are planning to have a meal there at the Kennels you will find it top notch - definatly not burger and chips

I entertain customers on the course and in Kennels after, its a great place for business

Wheather is worth the very long drive from Stoke that's up to you.

Hope this helps
