I get a lot of tension in my back and shoulders and a good deal of it is down to bad posture at my desk at work. This adds to muscle problems I have in my lower back. I find that I lean over my computer too much ande I need to lean back more.

I currently have a foot stand, a back support on my chair and my keyboard is slightly raised and leaning towards me. Despite this I still lean forwards to much. Does anyone have any tips for desk layout, chair etc that helps you solve this? I know I need to train myself more to lean back but there may be a layout issue I am missing that would help.

Do you wear glasses? Have you had your eyes tested recently? I'm just thinking that you are leaning over subconciously to be able to see correctly? The screen should be at the same height as your eyes (according to the workplace assessment we have to do) and your forearms and thighs should be parallel to the ground/floor.

I was told by the doc to make sure I was away from my desk for at least 10 mins in every hour. It was easily done as I scheduled my day to include visits to each of the depts and manager’s offices.

Once they got used to the boss dropping in, and relaxed, it actually benefited the business too. They felt well supported and I felt I had a far better grasp of how the workforce were feeling.

We are in the process of doing a refit and giving everyone a sit/stand desk. They are pretty good, simple motorised mechanism with digital presets etc. It gives people a different option other than just being stuck in the one possibly incorrect seating position all day and they are proving very popular.

That is an interesting point. I was tested and I am borderline needing them. I didn't bother but perhaps that could be part of it. Thanks
if you decide to go with them do not just get standard reading glasses you need intermediate glasses based upon how far away your eyes are from the screen (it's all about focal distance if you know something about photography)

LT get yourself a ball ,a big one instead of an office chair ,you will find your posture will improve and your core muscles will dramatically be toned up ,all good for golf . it might seem odd sitting on a beach ball but it works

Have you tried a wooden good posture chair? If you google - Sweedish good posture chair, it tells all you need to know.

We have a person per team trained in DSE (display equipment 'something') who set up all new starter with properly set up screen and chairs. But after that we all start slowly to move away from healthy into lazy. So we have reviews of that as well, but I can't remember how often.

I spent a lot of money on physio which she attributed to bad posture, so I move around a lot at work now. Never phone someone in the same office but walk there. She also gave me lots of exercises to maintain, but honestly, after the 1st long weekend I just got out of the habit. I already start feeling it going more tense again so I have to find these sheets and do those again. I usually get it accuse after a desk change, like when moving from a desk with monitor left to a desk with monitor right. I should turn the char to look at it straight anyway, but who does?
