well folks i've not been on much lately with starting my new job and i haven't really been playing golf much either but i'm trying to play more this last week so hopefully i'll be back playing well again.

anyway i started my new job on the 26th of march at balfron golf club as a greenkeeper,i use to do this back in 2004 at stirling but since then i haven't done it except for the occasional week here and there for kevin at balfron.

the original plan was for me to work the season, until october time and in my mind i planned on doing this every year until ally retired which would be in 4 yrs time.i absolutely love working as a greenkeeper and don't mind the hours, tbh it works more in my favour and i like the hours.what has happened though is i haven't been playing golf as much probably due to the fact that i bought another bike for commuting......another bit of good news,i've been dying to get back on 2 wheels and i feel like i haven't been away.

anyway, one of the greenkeepers applied to become a full time firefighter and i was told by kev that if he got the job i would more than likely get the full time position all year round and possibly the club would also pay for me to go to college.

last week paul got the job and i was told that i would be all year round now and that i will definately be going to college......so it's an understatement to say i'm as happy as a dog with a belly full of pee and a line of tree's:D:D

so here's a pic of me in action....there is no stress at all which i was use to working in the kitchen.

here's hoping i stick in at college and become a fully qualified greenkeeper.in the past i've had the tendency to mess up and not see things through, this feels like last chance saloon.

Wondered why you havent been around for a while, thats great news Wull, good luck in your new career:thup:

thanks everyone.....

i got myself a 2000 model r6 and i'm loving it mate, plenty fun in the twisties up this way.i think i've had it now for about 3-4 weeks.

Jammy sod lol

Gixxers are calling on me I think. Need to get a test ride soon me thinks.

Great news - but be careful on placing pin positions, people can get upset.

i haven't read that thread yet but the funny thing is i've been annoyed with the pins at my home club, they are ridiculous.especially when the majority of players playing the medals are mid to high handicap players so where's the point.especially when the greens are poor.

Get in there. If you find yourself wavering and need a pick me up and online tonic we're all here for you. Stick with it and the college course matey as it sound like you've found your calling. Well chuffed for you

Good luck mate!! My little lad was asking about green keeping and stuff the other day. He's 11 now, so a bit of time to go.....

Good on ya. There is something very nice about being able to say you enjoy your work and mean it. From the looks of the pic this is something you should be able to do.
