I fancy getting the book 'Dream on', after seeing it mentioned in another thread, I got to thinking, what other good golfing reads are there?

I am currently half way through Golf on the Rocks, A journey round Scotlands Island Courses , so far a great read.

I have also read

Sam Torrance autobiography - a good read ending with the 2002 Ryder Cup
Head to Head: Great Golf Debates - an entertaining light hearted read

Anyone recommend any other good golfing books???

Four Iron In The Soul by Lawrence Donegan - an old book now, but still a cracking read. It's about his season as a caddie on Tour.

good thread, winter is the perfect time for some good golf reading material- apart from GM of course-

I'd love to read something recommended here and written by Gary Player, any suggestions fellas?

golf is not a game of perfect I found a decent read

currently reading Stack and Tilt... the jury is still out :)

I'd agree with Rotella's book, although don't bother reading anymore of his, he recycles his ideas in each book.

John Daly's autobiography is good, and Faldo's is a true example of single-mindedness. The best of them all tho is Phantom of the Open, which is almost unbelievable if it wasn't a true storey. Good old Maurice Flitcroft, my golfing hero!!!

'Tommy's Honour' by Kevin Cook. The story of golf's founding father & son.
'How We won the Ryder Cup' the caddie's stories. By Norman Dabell

Dream On is a very good read. Very motivational and proves that better golf is possible.

Dave Pelz Sort Game Bible. A thick tome but very interesting and educational.

Hogans 5 Fundamentals, an easy read but not sure if the content is still as relevant in the more modern game. Also, the book teaches about his swing, which although awesome, may not suit everyone.

Loved "dream on" and anothe by tiny Lawrence "hacked off".

Another approval of the tom cox books lived those too, can't remember the author now but"baby got the yips" was a good read! Any of Harvey penicks books.

I'm just about to start "takes from q school"

Instruction wise I have too many! Tom watsons short game, leadbetters quick fix and positive practice, hogans fundamentals, tiger woods how I play golf the list goes on!!

Another vote for "Tommy's Honour"

Also enjoyed " A good walk spoiled" by John Feinstein (bit old now though) and Jack Nicklaus "My story".

Reminds me I must read more golf books this year.

I haven't read many golf books but will look into all of the suggestions above. I was put off by John Daly's 'Gold My own Way' and judgiung by the fact that no one has recommended it during this thread it seems that I am not the only one who thought it was a bit poor. Rich Beem's book is top of my list. Hope it's as good as Andre Agassi's 'Open'

Golf my own damn way by Daly is utter, utter tosh. I got it cheap for my kindle, read it in a few hours and got nothing from it. There's hardly anything in it other than the odd tip and the rest is like a semi half hearted biography.

If you like David Feherty and you can find a copy, "Somewhere in Ireland a Village is missing an Idiot" has some amusing stories in it.

As a general rule, books "written" by players are awful. Better to look for properly written books.

John Feinstein's books are good is you like stories about the US Tour - Q school, playing in the US Open etc.

Who's your caddy - Rick Reilly, is hilarious. Basically his starry of caddying for a range of players including Nicklaus, Daly, Casey Martin, a big Vegas gambler etc. The audiobook is great for commuting.
